Car Charger for x50v?

Is there a plan for the x50v car charger?
I tried connecting the wire from the car charger for my belkin gps into the x50v plug and the axim got the power for a second and the screen started to flicker. I believe there are some voltage differences.

How do I get a hold of the car charger for the x50v?

Belkin is slated to start shipping a car charger for the x50 series...in late November. The part will be #F8D0004. It's also available on the Dell website for $35 or $39...can't remember which.

ZipLinq is also planning a USB Sync&charge cable, which together with their USB auto adapter, will run about $20 plus you can also get phone chargers and other stuff that works with it. see http://www.ziplinq.com/retractable-cable-pda.html
So many programs, not enough ROM

Thats great news. What do you'll recommend, getting the belkin or the ZipLinq? I couldn't find the part number mentioned on the belkins website. Its good to know that belkin is planning, however where are the specifics listed?

This information may and probably is wrong, but I was told by Dell tech support on 2 occasions that the Belkin car charger for the X3/X3i/X30 also supports the X50. I ordered it and am expecting to receive it on 11/10. Does anyone know for sure if this charger is or is not compatible? The Dell item # is A0166131 which strangely does not show up in any search on Dell's website. There is a USB charger with car adapter for the X3/x30 by Belkin listed on Dell's website: Dell Part #: A0398802, Manufacturer Part #: F8D2000, I don't know if this is the same one or not, but the price and description are similar.

I am skeptical about the compatibility with my X50 and don't want to risk damaging my Axim. I never get a sense of confidence after talking to a Dell rep that the information they give me is accurate especially after being misinformed several times in the past. Should I give this adapter a try or am I better of cancelling the order?

bersca,

I have the X30 belkin car charger and the axim x50v. The connectors are different. Moreover both the pda's require different voltage inputs so it won't work. If you have placed your order, cancell it. I can say this as I have the x30h car charger. I'm gonna sell that on ebay soon.

Further Details: I ordered it from dell and yes it is the USB car charger. The connectors are different so it does not work. I also tried using the usb wire from my belkin gps to the axim x50v and it does not work!

Thanks for the info. I'll cancel my order and I guess I'll have to wait til the end of the month for the new Belkin charger.

I have a car-adaptor-to-USB converter from another accessory I own, so I suppose that would work in a pinch, albeit the voltage wouldn't be too high.

The X30 connector is different, so no, those won't work with the X50.

I spoke with ZipLinq, and they are waiting for the specs and manufacturing of the X50 connector which will then work with their USB auto & wall chargers.

I've owned their retractable phone charger for almost 2 years, and now the X30 Charge&Sync, and am very pleased with the quality and durability.

More than likely, Boxwave will make a minisynch cable for the x50. Once they do, you can order their versacharger (AC and car charger in one) or just the car charger. I already have the car charger and seperate ac accessory for my Asus, so all I will need is the new cable. Hopefully, they will start making x50 accessories soon.

Outfox,
I called belkin and they couldn't confirm the model numbers you listed. I wanted to see if I can preorder the car charger. I'm so surprised dell releases the PDA with no provisions on the car charger. Isin't this supposed to be a true mobile device.

Excuse me if I missed something but you all know that there IS a car charger available for the X50 right?
Dell X50v with BT LG325, Belkin GPS, 1GB 60x Kingmax SD, 1GB Lexar 32x CF, 512MB Lexar SD and 256MB Lexar SD, I wish they would'nt release these so often. Every time a new one comes out I make sure I get it!!!

Update:

I will able to charge my X50 whit the conector included in the box + my old
car adapter for my axim 5! The voltage is 5 vcd and 850 mh, the X50 needs
5.5 vcd so it wont burn it.

You can find the car charger for Axim at Semsons and use your own adapter from the X50!

Axim X50 still not avaible in Mexico so far....

I saw that on Dell's site a week or so ago also...was debating on whether or not I should order it with a coupon. It was about $35. I don't see it on their site now. Maybe they were selling it before it was actually available from Belkin and they decided to pull it off the site until they get some in.

Funny because that's the number that the Belkin rep gave me. He was also the one who told me that it would ship late November. I have no "insider track" except for this guy. I actually found the charger on the business side of the Dell site, and then directly called Belkin to see the real scoop.
