I don't know what happened, but my 1.33 driver on my WM5 x51v now works!! It doesn't appear in the "Remove Programs" box though, but it does appear in the Program items list. It used to give that message about another process using the IR port, but perhaps it seems there were multiple instances of this software that was installed and I didn't uninstall those.

To control with the arrow keys, hold down Fn with the key. Then it will work! Still haven't figured out the mouse controls though.

Anyways, I hope I gave some useful info for x51V owners.

Icon3 The solution

I accidentally discovered, that the driver wants to connect to the IR port of the Axim at COM4. It should do that at COM3, so I modified the config file of it a bit. It works perfectly now, with the latest drivers (1.39). It sometimess messes the screen, though, but typing works 100%, and using the fn key, arrows work too. Function keys work as well. :approve:

Copy the attached file to your windows directory after installing drivers, and enjoy! :)

Which one is the config file? I'm using the driver you supplied and I get the same message you got, about the IR port being busy.

Cannot get the keyboard to work

Hey Vicolee!
I recently got an Axim 51v and I am stuck with the Targus keyboard issue. I installed the latest drive (1.39) but don't understand your recommendation to copy the zip file you attached to my windows directory. Could you help me?

Thanks

Hey Volfied!
How exactly did you use the files posted by Vicolee? I have a x51v with driver 1.39 installed but don't know exactly what to do with the zip file.

Could you give me a hand...

Vicolee,

Thanks a million for the fix! It works like a charm after extracting the file to the correct folder! :approve:

Tadleprof:

What is the correct folder? I have tried to use Vicolee's patch but don't know where to put it.

Thanks.

vicolee, what do you mean by "it sometimes messes the screen"? Am thinking of getting the targus pa870U wireless keyboard. I have x51v rom a12. Do I only need the 1.39 driver plus your patch for the keyboard to work with my ax?

Thanks.

File -> About works - rename X 5 0 to X 5 1 v

I bought a Targus Universal Wireless IR keyboard for $20 CDN this week. I used the IRKeybd.ddb file in the zip file to get it working. I noticed when I went to File -> About, it messed up my X51v something bad. I made some changes, by renaming the section D e l l A x i m X 5 0 to D e l l A x i m X 5 1 v. File -> About works now. (I could be wrong, but I think it is actually C O M 2 it wants to use. )

Right click to "Save Target As..." on your PC.

Rename IRKeybd.ddb.txt to IRKeybd.ddb.

copy IRKeybd.ddb to your Axim \Windows directory overwritting the IRKeybd.ddb put in by the 1.39 install.

Remember to Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Beam and uncheck Receive all incoming beams before using the IRKeyboard.

Works with X51v using WM6 Classic ROM A03 RTM - but I only tested it a bit so far - still no mouse pointer.

File Type: txt IRKeybd.ddb.txt (6.5 KB, 131 views)
