I'll let you know later tonight. I have one of those at home. When I got mine it was only certified for use with the Pocket Loox. The 2215 I was using at the time didn't have enough power to run the 30GB USB drive I bought to use with it. Heck the 2215 couldn't even run a 5GB PCMCIA card but the X50v can. I think it will work fine.

I doubt the DJ will work with this card. The problem being that the DJ isn't auto-detected as a Mass Storage Device. You have to install Dell's drivers (or third-party drivers) on your PC in order to use it as a hard drive.

So more than likely, the only way to use this with the DJ would be if a developer (or Dell) wrote PocketPC drivers for the DJ.

very cool that you have one, i have always wanted one but i have never had the money :approve:

also the dj like deftech said wont work since you need the proper drivers...same issue with the ipod although some people have found ways around that with special software on the ipod

so we need a auto detectable extarnal 2.5" hard drive to use as a hard disk storage with x50v?
i understand as, if a device is auto detectable there will be no problem with that usb host adapter CF card, right?

My RATOC - Anypak USB drive experiment didn't work, but I'm sure it was a anypak driver issue, You can't download the PPC drivers anymore., Wait for the Dell DJ drivers.

SO - 4 years later - is there a way to attach a USB drive, either portable or flash?
If so, how?

Thanks,
Rand

This could work

If these actually exist, they could possibly work.

This allows for a USB device to be plugged into the Compact flash card.
Theoretically adding all sorts of peripheral devices. (Not just unlimited portable hard drives.)

Two makers.

But 1.1 usb

With flash memory becoming cheaper and smaller, i think the easiest way to use a usb drive with a pda is to just get a sd or microsd usb reader. Then pop the card out when you need to use it on a mobile device, and put the card back in when you want to use it on a computer.
