Best place to buy 2200mAh for X50
After having my Axim for over 3 weeks now, I realized not getting the extra battery was a huge mistake. So now I want to know where is the best place to buy the extended battery for X50V?
I saw it on Ebay for about $60 including shipping. What do you guys think?

If you get one off ebay you take a chance that it may not be worth the money.

Since the X50 is still so new you might be okay. Before you buy one check with the seller that it is not an X3 series. It might not work.

Last four purchases on ebay went bad... and I sell on ebay. One guy cursed me out because I got mad when he sent me cracked software. Told me I was no better than him because I knew what it was and what did I expect for software $20.00 cheaper than anyplace else.

In another order the car charger did not work... nor was it original manufactory equipment... The guy said it was built in a factory and it was original to the manufact. Then I got, what do you expect, the items we sale are cheap!

I don't know, peole are reading these "get rich on Ebay" books and charging $10 to 20 for shipping an item that only cost 90 cents. Then they hide the postage through the post office like you are not suppose to know. Then they also overcharge for insurance. Tonight I saw a guy charging $5.00 insurance on a pda... a palm E (I was comparison shopping since I will put mine up there soon). that palm might reach a sale of $130.00 to 160... ins is $2.20 at most.

Every now and again you can find a good ebayer, but they are getting harder to find... even ones with great feedback you have to watch.

I would purchase from dell or a reputable vendor recommended on this board.

And added to that...the Ebay mantra:

READ THE FEEDBACK, READ THE FEEDBACK, READ THE FEEDBACK...

and as mentioned by theog:

CHECK THE SHIPPING COSTS, CHECK THE SHIPPING COSTS, CHECK THE SHIPPING COSTS...

Granted, these items will not stop all bad transactions, but doing these two things alone can solve many of the problems.

I will no longer purchase from someone with bad feedback or outrageous shipping charges.

And truthfully, shipping IS expensive. If you have a $100 item, and you send it Priority Mail with insurance and confirmation, you're looking at roughly $7.30 (starting price) and going up to $10.00 on weight--which does not reflect any "handling time." So if a package costs between $3.95 and $10 (w/insurance & delivery confirmation) for shipping, I'm usually okay with that, as long as the deal was good enough.

Yeah, I had been looking for some cables on eBay before, but they were TOTALLY gouging on shipping costs. I mean, it's a cable, damnit, and yet they want $10 for shipping, no local pickup (I guess understandable due to lack of manpower), and NO COMBINING! What the hell? It's a damn cable. Stick two in a box. Stick three in a box. It doesn't make a difference to the ship cost.

A while back, weren't there some items going for like $1.00 and shipping fees of $150 or whatever? And then ebay cracked down on them cuz they were avoiding the ebay fees?

Generally, ebay sucks. Something this new, I'd get it straight from Dell. However, I hope one day some 3rd party manufacturer makes a higher capacity battery for the same size as the 1100 battery. That would be cool.

Ebay doesn't suck - there are plenty of good deals and plenty of good buyers and sellers. You just have to read the auction description carefully and make sure you understand the offer completely.

Okay, I guess ebay's not TOO bad. Out of 25 or so auctions, I've only been burned on 1. You just have to shop around. Another "trick" is to search with misspelled words. It's a hit-or-miss, but people have gotten good deals that way. But people have been catching on. (Check out how many "labtops" there are on ebay. )

labtops - probably it has some meaning -- like a laptop which can be used in a lab.

I bought one on eBay at around $60 including shipping and (as it claimed in auction terms) it is genuine Dell branded. It seems fine.

I also bought on ebay for about $58, it seems like a Dell original.
It works just fine. The only thing that "sucks" is that the Dell doesn't fit into the Rhinoskin case with the extended battery, but that's a different matter...
