It appears you want to make a serial connection to this device. The bad news is that the X50 does not have a serial connection cable yet. There is no current cable to attach to the bottom of your X50 or X50v which would allow you to hook to a serial device. The good news is that there are other options. You can get a Compact Flash card that has a serial cable connector coming out of the top:

Or, you can get a wireless serial connector that uses the Bluetooth technology. The only issue with the wireless is you must provide a power source for the receiver:

I hope this helps.

I have thought about this before. I found an alternate (may be better) solution is to sell the Digitraveller on Ebay and get a Bluetooth GPS receiver also on Ebay for around $120.

I've heard certain things about Gomadic RS232 cables. Go with SERIALIO cables. Do a search in this forum - there is a whole thread on this.

Dont know if anyone is still reading this, but I have successfully connected my ol' RS Digitraveler GPS to my Axim x50v.

I used the Gomadic x50v to RS232 cable with ComCube.
Gomadic Cable Link

In my case, I had the PDA version of the digitraveler and didn't have a serial cable connection.I followed some simple steps for creating a serial connection using either one of the existing PDA cables, or a simple telephone extension cable, Found Here .. Ignore the pin 4-6 and 7-8 stuff as they were not needed. Apparently, the Gomadic cable supplies the signal needed on pin 3 to turn on the GPS when you select connect from the Axim.

To use a simple telephone cable, cut one end off and add a female DB9 serial connector using this pin diagram.
