CF * CF-Ultra II * SD "blue line" * SD Ultra II *** for X50v
Dear friends,

I want to buy a 1GB or 2GB card for my axim x50v. I have contacted Sandisk and they told me, that all handheld have only a reading/writing-speed less than 1,5 MB/s therefore a faster card makes no sense and isn't worth the money.

CF
CF-Ultra II
SD "blue line"
SD Ultra II

Are there different speeds in reading and writing with the cards above? Which one would you consider best? So it makes no sense to buy a SD-UltraII as the handheld can't make use of the card's highspeed?
Is SANDISK a good-choice??? Or which other brandname would you prefer???

I would recommend a card reader that can take advantage of the higher speed cards. Then when you transfer large files it won't take forever.

and which card?

SD - SD highspeed - CF - CF highspeed ???

so the advantage of higher speed cards is only useful with a card reader and not by working on the handheld?

THANKS!!!!

i really can't believe that a handheld can only read 1.5MB/sec.
is this true??
i have just ordered a sandisk 2GB ultraii CF and it says 10mb/sec read speed.. so is it useless when used with a handheld?
sounds so strange..
a digital cam can read/write faster then x50v? i can't believe it..

I can't believe it either. But this was the answer Sandisk wrote me. They said Ultra-cards are useless with handhelds. And even that normally there is no speed-difference between CF and SD cards!

Is there any expert who can tell us more about CF and SD and their ULTRA versions...

You are limited by the transfer speed of the system bus. Buy the faster cards if you plan on using it in another device which can use the speed, such as a digital camera, of as stated by others above, for file transfers using a card reader.
