Will the Rhinoskin case protect Axim in a fall?
This Rhinoskin case looks pretty good for protecting the Axim from crush and sharp objects, but do you guys think it offers any impact protection? Would the LCD screen survive a fall in one of these things? Anyone have personal experience with this?

Yes it would. It's very robust. I've read many thread where people dropped their Axim with the Rhinoskin without any problems.

Hey thanks. That's good to hear. I will be using my Axim daily at work and am afraid of dropping it and damaging that beautiful screen. I regret not purchasing the Dell CompleteCare now.

I had my Toshiba e740 fall down a flight of stairs in a Proporta (same thing though) case. Hard wooden stairs. And hit concrete at the bottom.

Amazingly the PDA worked fine! (this is only amazing because before that, the PDA never worked )

I've dropped my Axim in Rhinoskin several times (tile, hardwood, & carpet). The case protected it perfectly.

No, unfortunately it does not. I believe some on this forum have altered their cases to do so. It is not something I would do. Personally, I will just use an extra 1100ma battery.

Edit: See this post for pics of the battery installed in an X50.

I seriously doubt it would fit with the 2200 battery installed...that thing looks like it is form fitting.

I dropped the X50v with Rhino-skin because the skew unwinded off the case. It fell on hardware floor from waiste level. The door opened but the X50 was OK. The case did its job this time but may be I was just lucky

I shot my rhinoskin and axim with a 357 Magnum at about 10 yards. The impact didn't do much damage. The penetration did a lot of damage however.

My kid flipped my Axim in the Rhino over his head and it landed on hardwood. It worked fine.

I think the lesson here is--don't shoot the Rhinoskin case and you'll be OK.

The screw that attaches to the case likes to work loose. This causes the pda to fall off your beltclip. This happened to me 5 or 6 times. No damage.

So because I have the case, the screw falls out, which causes the pda to fall, which is protected by the case, which has a loose screw, which falls out.... ad infinitum

Added some locktite to the screw, no more falls!

The important thing is that the case DID protect the pda during the falls.
