Compact Flash Type I in Axim 50v?
Dear all,

I am looking forward to receiving my Dell Axim 50v soon...hopefully before the holidays. Apart from this little toy, I would also like to buy a digital camera and in order to save at least some Euros I also try use a minimum of different storage cards. However, the camera, which I want to buy (Canon Ixus 500), has Compact Flash Type I cards and the Axim has Compact Flash Type II cards (please correct me, if I am wrong). I also read that it would be possible that I could use the CF Type I cards in Type II devices. Is this correct? Could I view pictures from my camera's Type I card on my Axim?

Thanks
Torsten

Yes, type I cards fit in the X50. Your pictures will be viewable depending on which file format your camera saves pictures as. Any idea which format that is?

Exactly! I was p/o'ed when I tried to fit my Type II compact flash card in my Kodak while on vacation in Washington DC. I did have a laptop with me though so I could clear the 256MB type I card periodically. I had my Kodak set to save pictures as .jpeg's

Thanks for the quick reply!
The Canon Ixus 500 save pictures as .jpg-files and videos as .avi-files.

Cheers

You might need PQV to play those .avi file, I don't think BetaPlayer handles videos produced by digital cameras yet. The Windows Media Player on the X50 definitely does not play any .avi files.
