20 GB on Axim???
Some people have ripped out the microdrive on a 5 GB Rio Carbon MP3 player to use in an Axim. I'm wondering if it's possible with the 20 GB version...

HERE

anyone ever try it?

I would guess that 20GB drive is a 1.8" drive like the ones used in iPods. AFAIK microdrive capacities haven't gotten anywhere near 20GB.

The best post/thread i've seen on Harddrives is this one

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=32552

I've purchased the "USB host adapter" talked about in that thread
and a "Sony Giga Vault" the 40GB version.

Microdrives, like the 5GB one from the Rio, are housed in CF Type II casings, so you just throw them in your CF slot and they show up like any other flash card.

For external USB drives like Lucidnight talks about, the USB host card from Ratoc comes with a mass storage driver that you install on the PPC. It will allow the PPC to talk to most portable hard drives that obey the mass storage spec - like iPods, Archos drives and jukeboxes, etc.

My Ratoc card just arrived today, too bad my X50 hasn't shipped yet.
