Help with Thinkoutside Bluetooth Keyboard
I ned some help. I just got my x50 (WOOOOOOOT), and I love it.

Also order the Think Outside Bluetooth Keyboard.

Now here is my problem. I have gotten an unsecure connection and it works fine in that mode.

When I got to pair it thats were I run into a major problem. I have NO IDEA how to get the passkey to work. I have tried entering it with the on screen keyboard, which take my BT keyboard offline, then won't allow it to work. I have also tried entering with my BT keyboard onscreen and then on the keyboard itself and it says failed. Apparently I need some step by step instructions to do it correctly. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

You need to enter the key on both the PDA and on the keyboard.

On your axim enter 1234

On your keyboard hold down the left FN key and press the same sequence 1234 then press enter.

i just got my TOBT keyboard this morning. took me half an hour to figure out how to secure the thing. u need to check the 'secure' box and then tap the password frm the screen. then after u click "ok" u type the same password on your keyboard immediately. if lady luck likes u then it will say secured connection established.

BTW, for those of you guys who are using the TOBT keybrd, are you getting any lags when typing? i find that the x50v/keybrd can't keep up with my typing. is this a ram problem or am i just typing too fast?

John, when you enter it on the Axim use the onscreen keyboard. after you enter it on the axim enter the same code on the keyboard, be sure to hold down the left FN button to access the numbers... then press enter.

PPT, I have not experienced any lag. on my x30 or x50

No lag on mine either....

quite a few people couldn't get it to work because they didn't press enter on the TOBT K/B after the pairing code, so make sure you're doing that.

ok my conclusion is that i must be typing too fast. especially when i m on icq or msn, i must have been typing those short phrases like 'gtg' or 'brb' at crazy speeds =p

one thing i found abt the keyboard is that it really takes one key input at a time. when holding on to the backspace key to delete something, it deletes letter by letter, much slower than the normal PC keyboards.

anyone got their keyboard working with morphgear? i load up morphgear & grand theft auto advance & tired to play it with keyboard, thats when it lags like crazy. pressing a key on keyboard & x50v will respond in like 10 seconds later.

Can someone please go through the steps after you click enter and get the pairing successful message?

I have done this and it brings me back to the Bluetooth Paired Devices screen where I can add/remove again. I'm way confused, bleh

I've got email going between Think Outside and me, and Dell and me... both of which have been phenomenal... but no luck in getting it to work so far ;( Dell has even replaced the Axim x50v in case it was that... so I'm truly at a loss here and can only imagine it's something I'm missing.

Did anyone ever determine the *exact* steps to get the secure connection working? I somehow had it working a few days ago, went to connect this morning and it lost the connection. I then gave up after about 10 minutes of trying to enter the correct passkey sequences again?!?!? It really *shouldn't* be this darn difficult...

You can email the tech support at Think Outside... while I still can't get mine working, I have to say they're awesome. I'm going to try again (be warned TOTB techies ) I just need a few days to recover from the frustration of having one darn thing with my Axim that will not do what I want it to do!

I do know that to pair them you click the onscreen keyboard icon, type in 1234, then (with your TOKB turned on) hold the left FN key and type in 1234 and hit enter. Use a deliberate touch when entering the numbers on your BT keyboard, dont' hurry through them. Good luck, hope you get yours working

Do you type the code on the Axim, then type the same sequence on the keyboard, and THEN click Ok on the Axim?

Type the code on the axim, click okay (sorry!)
then type the code (slowishly) on the keyboard and hit enter (on the keyboard)

should get your paired message then... but I can't help you any further because this is one of the places my problem begins, lol good luck!

i'll try that, but as soon as I hit OK on the Axim, the green light on the keyboard goes out?!?

I sent a message to tech support and got a message back saying it would be at least 3 business days before anyone replied?!

did you turn on the key board as stated in the directions? (you have to do it soon or it turns off automatically anyway. (also, there's a post in here somewhere from the TO folks about getting it working... might want to look at that too (as they said they found a problem with axims and have a way to fix)

Here is what they sent me... I think it's the same as posted by them Hope it helps

I have some more information that will help:

1. Turn off the wireless support. Both Bluetooth and WiFi
2. Open the keyboard application and tap the BT tap.
3. Turn OFF/ON the Axim
4. Wait for the "Initializing Bluetooth Support" message to change to "Connection not setup" in the keyboard application.
5. Mark the Secure checkbox
6. Tap "connect button"
7. Press and hold Ctrl+LFn+RFn for 3 seconds until the green light flashes once per second.
8. When the Bluetooth Authentication screen appears use the onscreen keyboard to enter any numerical passkey you desire. Example (123)
9. Tap Ok in top left corner
10. You will now be returned to the Bluetooth keyboard app to enter the same passkey with the Bluetooth keyboard.
11. Press and hold the Left FN+ the corresponding keys to your passkey followed by the Enter key. (Example 123 = Left Fn + qwe)
