FM Transmitter?
I was wondering if there is an FM transmitter that slides into the CF slot and transmits audio over an FM channel (for listening to on your car radio)?

I have seen versions that are bulky and require an external power source. I was looking for something that is small in size and pretty much fits right in the top of the axim with little or no bulkiness.

It would be even more awesome of it also recived AM/FM signal for turning the Axim into a radio as well.

Does this exist?

You can get one (like for an IPOD) that simply plugs into your headphone jack and uses battery power...for example the Belkin TuneCast II.

This was out before. The general concensus was that a cassette shaped adaptor that fits your car cassette player is better. They have a wire and stereo jack plug that fits the Axim output. They do not suffer interference from FM stations on close frequencies and do not have batteries. Some later car audio systems have inputs on the front. The one I have works ok but often self ejects. The transmitter is a cooler idea though. Try a search for the thread.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that...The FM transmitter for IPODs and other music players have been around for awhile and are pretty much the only alternative for those that don't have a cassette deck.

Thanks. This looks pretty cool and may be the best out there for what I want. I was just hoping there was something that was similar in size to a CF card and did not show out side the PPC or if it did, just a little, and has software for setting it up. I thought I saw something like this once but it turned out to be a card that made your pPPC into an FM radio.

The problem with a cassette adapter is that if I go into a vehicle with a CD player, it would not work.

Thanks for all the replies and if anyone knows of other options, please post them.

I have the TuneCast II and it works well. Obviously an FM transmitter isn't going to give you the sound quality that a line-in or cassette adapter will, but it's pretty darn good considering.

The TuneCast is also fairly compact, and it comes with a car adapter if your batteries run out en route. Most importantly, it allows you to tune to ANY FM station - a lot of other transmitters are limited to a few preset frequencies.

I have also seen some bluetooth speakers out there - mainly for cell phones - but I would think bluetooth is bluetooth. It would not sound as good versus over your car stereo system however.

I read in another thread that the HP BT stereo headset doesn't work with the Axim X50v?

The Cassette interface adapters will, however, pick up interference from a cell phone during a call or during the period when the cell phone enters a new cell tower's range.
