Hi,

Did anyone who ordered the $20.99 x50 Rhinoskin Case from Amazon.Com get theirs?

When I ordered it last week on 16 Dec 04 it was "IN STOCK". The estimated delivery date was supposed to be 23 Dec. I just received a email today, 21 Dec 04, from them stating that the order has been cancelled due to the item being out of stock. How can that be?

Can they just do that? Aren't they supposed to honor their offers and try to give me an alternative delivery date instead? I wasn't even given a choice to make that decision!

They are plainly misleading people by advertising items that are not available. What do you think?

I ordered mine at about the same time and they sent me an e-mail saying it was delayed and would be coming around January 13th and did I still want it. I responded yes but later decided I didn't want to have my x50v without protection. I cancelled and ordered from ebay. I think they made a mistake on the price and just bailed out. I am disappointed in Amazon. They have been great to me in the past.

Amazon is is A grat place to shop and have been very fast on shipping.
I have never heard of them canceling an order? I would call and ask whats up

Sorry to hear about your troubles - But I've also had similar experiences. I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon and have had them cancel orders on me before. The reason that they generally give me is that the item is no longer carried. They are affiliated with many other stores (Target, Toys R Us, Borders, etc...) I'm not sure how often these inventories are monitored or updated.

That is horrible. I ordered and while it said "ships in 1-2 days" at time of order, i was given a 12/19-22 estimate. I was going to cancel and order from dell even though its $10 more, but since ive never had trouble with amazon i stuck with it. But with this new news then im feeling i'll be in the same boat as you soon. Im extremely disappointed because if amazon was more accurate from the start i could have had my rhinoskin from somewhere else by now. instead ill order today from dell and it probably wont get here for a while due to holiday shipping and everything.

In dealing with Amazon a lot since 1998, that has only happened twice to me - they are generally very good about monitoring stock levels, but as another poster noted - they deal with many suppliers and warehouses. I believe they are very just-in-time oriented and if a supplier fails on a promise the consumers are stuck. It's frustrating to be sure, but it happens - and even at retail stores where their computer says they have something in stock and it's just not in the warehouse.

Hope you find one - sounds like they are popular!

I ordered on the 9th and haven't gotten "the axe" email yet - mine still shows that expected delivery by Dec. 24th. I'm expecting not to get it though - especially if it doesn't ship by tomorrow - they'd have to overnight it at this point to get it to me by the 24th.

Stupid me. I cancelled my Amazon order and ordered at Dell since they say "will ship with 24hours". Im currently in "pre production" with a delivery date of 1/13-1/17.

Im closer and closer to just giving up on the rhinocase. im still unsure on how much bigger it makes the axim. i need it to be as pocketable as possible.

Yeah, I just got a cancellation notice from amazon today. I never had that from them before. I am rather annoyed. My next thought was that I would try Dell, but seeing as they are in delay on it as well...

Oh well, I guess it was too good a price!

I ordered 2 days ago thinking that i was delayed until january. i checked status last night and it already is on its way. So dell may be a good alternative to those cancelled by amazon.

Amazon does that all lot. They get in over their head with cheap prices, can't fulfill the orders and just cancels them without giving you the opportunity to decide for yourself. It's happened to me a couple of times so I try to avoid buying from them.

Oddly enough amazon hasn't cancelled the one I ordered on the 9th - they sent me an email this morning saying it was delayed and they were sorry it wouldn't reach me by Christmas. Guess I'll wait a bit longer and see if they actually send it.

Hi,

Did you receive yours yet? I guess I will stay away from Amazon now. Another one on my no-buy list... sigh... hard to find good, clean, honest deals nowadays ...

Amazon has a small inventory, they do a lot of their selling and shipping by affiliating themselves with other companies (not just the big places mentioned already). If the smaller company is overwhelemed, Amazon cancels orders until the demand can be met with the supply given. I suspect the selection method is random.
