I think I'm understanding everything. I actually recently had a problem where I plugged the sync cable into a battery dead axim... and the axim didn't for for 2 days, or something like that. Anyone care to explain whether or not http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT cable would work... so much for cheap ebay cable.
Really it looks no differant from any other cable except I hate these copy and paste jobs people do on ebay. Its not even very good. Lets see "Works with Voltage 110v - 240v (Worldwide Compatibility) !" ok except its a USB cable it would not even plug into a outlet. "Protective circuit to prevent overcharging (IC chip)! " The only IC chip thats going to prevent overcharging is the one in the axim. "LED Indicator!" Have not seen a hotsync cable with one yet although its possible but I doubt it. "Charges from 0% to 45% in just a few minutes!" and "Charges from 0% to approximately 85% in about 45 minutes!" makes it sound like the cable is what makes the differance in how long it charges (its not in this case). "Handheld device can be used immediately, while charging!" Possible has nothing to do with the cable though its what your getting the power from originally. "Current limited, with reverse circuit protection!" Another one that trust me this protection is not there in the cable. "CE & UL Certified!" I really doubt this not that its not possible it is but no way did a no name cable maker bother. "Retail Value ($29 - $39)" They always say this but really its worth 10 bucks maybe.
Well thats my 2 cents I really don't like these guys with the copy and paste ebay auctions if your going to sell stuff at least get correct info on the page.
Sorry I should have been clearer it was referring to any aftermarket sync & charge cable that draws power from the USB poer such as the Seido sync/charge cable
Finnaly I bought a 5V, 2A car charger today. And  happy to see when I turn on the PDA and the light indicating under charging in on (orage light) . I think it is all about the currency. The X50V need much currency to operate. It is said the car charger which provided for Asus PDA would provide the 5V, 2A and same plug for X50V.
I just got my Boxwave Direct Sync Cable. It works great and charges even while syncing on my pc. After looking up power consumption for it in Device Manager, it is only Drawing 2mA which is really nothing compared to some devices that I have (500mA is the limit on each usb root hub). This is connected directly to my mainboards USB.
It will charge and sync at the same time no problem :approve:

it works great, i see no reason why you would not want to get one. I realize the concerns of it drawing too much power from your pc because of the pins and everything, but it works great on both my laptops and my pc :approve:
What about Belkin's car charger. Dell sold that package and then stopped. Has anyone used it, did they have problems?
Really, I just bought it last week. After spending lots of money to other solutions.... The belkin (from Dell) is the best. The car charger shows output 5.4 and 2A. That is exactly what the X50v needs. It will charge your Axim (even w/Extended battery) NO MATTER WHAT CONDITION while in use
Thanks SolSie, my first posting and I got a thumbs up!
Giving up all the chargers, batteries, camera, etc, from my ole' Handspring Visor was tough, but I'm juiced up with an X50, 512 SD card, upcoming charger, and a new support team. Thanks.

hi do you have a link to where to buy that cable from?
1amp 6volt car charger from Radio Shack (273-1859) $16.99
Adaptaplug "B" (273-1705) $0.00 with the purchase of the car charger
2-pack of Diodes (276-1101) $0.59
Instructions found here
-30% employee discount = $12.31 for a car charger. I've charged my x50v fully with no problems.
-Aaron
I hope it helps those who can't wait for a brand-name charger.

Reason: grammer sucks
Kenban, sorry if you've already covered this one....
What about a USB Y-splitter? I saw one advertised on PPCtech.com. One end is the interface and it splits so you can plug the other USB connector into another USB port. Would this mean that you effectively get 500mA x2 = 1000mA? If so, wouldn't this be enough to charge & sync the x50v even in some of the worst conditions (i.e. battery below 45%)?
I have the Dell USB Travel Sync cable. I want to buy the extended battery. But I don't know if it would charge using USB power only when the PDA is switch off.
