Would like to purchase a SD card of minimum 1 GB or more
Wich brands can you recommend me? Have read some bad comments on SanDisk, therfore thinking of Lexar or Kingston or ...(your suggestions) but wich card is the fastest available for Axim x50v?
Or is CF a faster technology?
Thanks for your feedsback

There is no intrinsic difference between the memory used in SD and CF cards, this is more a question of the type of flash memory used within the packaging.
It looks like the SanDisk and other manufacturer problems with SD cards are resolved with the introduction of Type II (or III) or Ultra memory cards. Also, these problems predate the X50 and it is likely that the root problems have been eliminated in this design. We hope.
So, most likely any vendor will do but look closely at the performance specifications of the specific card. Cheap 1GB cards are likely to be too slow for some applications e.g. multimedia playback.
The new 2GB SD Cards give you the best benchmarks. But they also come for a price...

I was reading on the NCIX website about the Sandisk Ultra II 1GB secure digital card. It quoted specs of read speeds at 10mb/s. Can anyone out there tell me if that is sufficient for video playback, or should I be looking for a faster card?
im playing a divx-video with about 300kbits video and 128kbits sound as bitrate. so there is a total transfer of about 450kbits per sec. I run these videos from a normal (not highspeed) SD Card from sandisc with no problems!

Rag1951,
I have a Sandisk Extreme II 16GB SDHC card. The x51v with WM6.1 works absolutely fine. With x51, the WM6.1 ROM should have the SDHC update. So therefore, the 8GB should work.
Note: Some stupid desktop programs still only recognize 4GB. But that is the program's fault.

If you mean SD (not SDHC) then its 8gb. I have one and it works fine. If you actually mean SDHC then the answer would be 32gb for both SDHC and CF memory cards. I have a 8gb CF and SD combination as well as a 16gb SDHC and CF combination. :approve:

This thread is from 2005, people. I was scared when this person said 2gb cards come with a price. They had an msrp of $249 when they first came out. WHAT?
If only i could get my DeLorean working, i could gather up some cheap sd cards and go back and sell then to unknowing people in 2005. And warn them about the recession...
