Aluminum cases: 3 to pick from
AximCases

Rhinoskin
PDAir
DSI

AFAICT, they all come with belt clips.

The Rhino (I've been told) does NOT have a hole in the back for the soft-reset button.

The Rhino costs more and comes with a "loss prevention service label" that the other 2 do not.

Are those the only differences?

you're right about the lack of a soft-reset hole in the rhinoskin case...i find that to be a bit annoying...

the loss prevention label isn't much of a big deal...visit www.stuffbak.com for info about it...it's mostly an "honor system" thing - if someone finds your device and returns it to the company, the "good samaritan" will get a 25 dollar gift certificate to use of affiliated websites, plus any reward that you want to add. if your device is found and returned, you pay the reward that you offered plus 15 bucks s&h to get your device back. i say the odds of it happening are zilch.

the belt clip on the rhino spins too much, and i don't trust it.

other than that, i love the case. it looks nice, is VERY lightweight, and it has a fuzzy springy lining inside to protect the screen.

oh! one more thing - it also has 2 slots to hold SD cards. i like that too!

1) Do they all protect the SD & CF slots when closed?
2) Do they all protect the SD & CF slots when open?

The Rhino description says this:

"Cutouts allow access to SD/CF card slots, hotsync port, stylus, speaker and headphone jack"

gee, I wonder what 99.9% of people would do if they found a X50v inside a aluminum case...

it's called "spooning".
yea, but you gotta put the other arm somewhere. you can either lay on it or shove it in between your bodies; the only other option is to stretch it above your head. but sometimes my arm pops out of socket when I'm sleeping like that. so I was constantly searching for some place to keep my arm, while still laying close to her.
and?
what do you mean 'and'?! that's like a metaphor for a whole relationship.

I have the rhino case with my x50v. It works fine for me. I use the belt clip.

To answer your questions:
1. NO
2. NO

They are cutouts so there is no coverage from the case, I can only imagine the difficulty in changing SD/CF cards and accessing the sylus etc if there was some part of the case covering it at all.

Call me crazy, but wouldn't it make sense for it to protect the entire top of the Axim when it is closed? (If I understand your correctly, the Rhino does not)

Wonder if the other ones do...

i have the innopocket case and its the best one. its identical to the high priced rhino exept the door hinge is made a lil different and it has the soft reset cutout as somebody mentioned. it also does not cover the top too well but it has a "lip" like the cover is bent over the top a lil so it would probably protect it from a fall

I own the Rinoskin and it does a great job. There has been threads about the belt clip coming off. I has installed the screw to hold on to the belt clip and used clear fingernail polish on the threads of the screw to lock it in place.

Pics?
Can someone with an aluminimum case post pictures of their x50v next to the case? I'm wondering how much bulk these cases add. TIA.

The X30 version of the rhino-case has the hole for soft reset. Wonder why they left it off the X50?

no innopocket does not make rhinoskin, prolly their biggest rival. believe that i read on this site that the rhinoskin is a lil bit thicker than the innopocket also. i know ive seen pics of these two side by side on this site maybe someone can tell you where.

Here's another one: Brando. It's $28 + $3 shipping, so it's the cheapest. I really think, just looking at the pictures, this one, the PDAir and the DSI are identical.
