X50/X50v Mugen Power Batteries (a big disappointment)
Looks like Mugen Power are offering two different capacity "extended" batteries for the X50/X50v:

- 1100 mAh Extended Battery

- 2200 mAh Extended Battery

Here's my opinion about Mugen now:

These are probably just the placeholder entries for the standard Dell batteries that they're selling for the time being. I wouldn't read too much into it.

There is a thread about the x50v batteries here:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...338#post499338

They will be same capacity as the dell's and same prices.... :-(

Ah. Thank god. I haven't much experince with Lion Battery and seeing the Hx4700's batteries at much higher capacities I got a little worried there. Glad to know I'm probably wrong.

Edit: After reading the thread silentknight provided my original opinion about Mugen Power stands. Very, very disappointing...

Ack. That sucks. I was hoping for a 1400 mAh standard battery. So much for buying from Mugen.

I was hoping for the 2000 mAh battery that's the same thickness as the standard 1100 battery from Dell. I read about mugen working on it. And it would be great if they would also produce a 4000 mAh battery that's the same thickness as dells 2200 extended battery.

Are you saying this won't happen? I know I read about it here.

Best Regards,
Christopher H.

Yeah this probably not gonna happen. I'm really dissapointed too. I believe X50s are going to replace X5/X3s completely in the very near future which means that Mugen will loose all their axim customers very soon

I like my X50v, I like its features and I like its price But what I know for sure that my next PDA will not be Dell unless they resolve the really annoying battery issue

There is a point where physical size of the battery limits the maximum mA. Asking for a 2000 mA battery the size of the 1100 one is a bit...fantasy-ish.

Someone in the other thread suggested that perhaps Dell had actually fully optimised the batteries already, and thus Mugen cannot produce the same battery with a higher mAh. Maybe this is close to the truth...?

Btw, moved to X50 accessories (as opposed to general discussion).

Real bummer that Mugen can't squeeze a bit more juice into a standard battery But at $34.95 its still cheaper than ordering from Dell UK.

OK,

It's my turn to add a few comments. Yes, the problem is that Dell did a good job in optimizing their batteries this time. Mugen Power could not get a higher capacity out of these physical sizes. So the best that they could do was to create the same capacities.

Does that mean we've "heard the fat lady sing"? (Apologies to anyone overweight!) No. It's not over.

If you remember Star Trek, it was almost cancelled and after a nice letterwriting campaign, it was revived and look at the franchise now! So, the work is up to us, the users.

As somone mentioned above, I too think the X50 will replace the X5/X3. So we have to make it worthwhile.

Mugen was able to create a monster battery, of their own design, for the H4700 Ipaq and the Toshiba E8XX series batteries. So, can they make one for the X50. In the thread in the Lion Battery forum, Manfred, from Mugen Power, leaves us to believe that it may be possible. I suggest that we all send him a PM telling him that we want a bigger battery! If he gets enough demand, he might be able to convince his bosses to get back to work.

Let's get this letter-writing campaign off to a good start and start sending manfred a few PM's.

I still don't think its over (but maybe I'm being too optimisitic!).

Well, the competition between buying extra or larger capacity battery would be the price, and that can be the difference between Mugen and Dell. The monster battery would really make the X50 into a brick! So Lionbattery, I see a good discount for the X30 and free shipping also, how about same price for the X50 battery?
