Ok folks, I haven't done mods for awhile. I just got my x50v and here I am pulling out the heat gun and Dremel already

...
First things first, if you want to make a really simple plastic flip cover for your Axim, check out the url below for photos (sorry, they didn't turn out as clear as I would like them to be, I used my cheapy 2 megapixel pocket camera instead of my 4 megapixel).
Anyways, here's how I did it.
1. I bought a nintendo cartridge plastic case at a surplus store for $.49, you can also use a VHS case as well.
2. I measured the axim and cut out the template (see photos) make sure you use the "hinge" part of the case cover as your "flip" part for the axim cover.
3. Unlike plexiglass, the plastic used for these covers are nice and thin and flexible, believe it or not, I cut the whole thing with a pair of hardware scissors. It's thin but thick enough to make a nice protective cover.
4. once you cut it out, all that is to do is start bending the arms with a heat gun til you get a snug fit over your axim.
5. use the dremel took to smooth out the edges and corners and wala, you're done.
** Took me about 45 minutes to make this. You can use it as just a normal cover or flip the cover up to use without taking it off, it's a bit stiff but it works, I'm sure through time, the hinge will loosen nicely. Good luck and good modd'n!
