What Happened? Sudden Data Loss from SD Card
I am mystified by sudden and complete data loss from my Lexar 256 SD Card.

It was working fine. I had most of my app's loaded on the SD Card.

Suddenly the file explorer could not find anything on the SD Card.
Of course the apps that had been there were not usable.

The USB card reader confirmed that there was no data...only one little file called something like "ignore docs" can't recall exactly, but it was there before the failure.

I formatted the card and ran Scan Disc on it. No errors reported.

I put the card back into the x50v and installed Skype on it. It seems to work fine. Don't have time to put the other app's on it now.

Anyone have an idea what happened?

Did you do anything with the card before you noticed that the info on the card was missing? Did you put it in another device that uses SD cards, for example?

I've been having weird things happening to my SD card lately too. For example I keep a bible on the SD card and went to use it and it was gone. I used explorer and it was there. Tried to launch from explorer...nothing. I had to reload the bible software again.
Also Pocket Weather maps are loaded on the SD card. They stopped working as well. Some games have been acting weird too, that are running from the card. I've had to reinstall a few of those as well.

No clue. But a big pain!

I have had this trouble too. I have notice that when I sync with Avantgo that is stored on my Sd Card. If for some reason it doesn't finish the sync or if the unit shuts off during the sync it will mess up my sd card every time. I don't think that Avantgo itself is the probrom. I believe that anytime a program does not finish writing to the FAT Table it causes this. What I do is keep a back of my SD Card on my Desktop PC. When this happens. I just format the card and then put my backup back on the Card.

Thanks for the opinions. I did not remove the card before the problem.
What I might have done was to shut off an app while it was trying to load. Perhaps it was Resco Pic viewer.

I shall take your suggestions about backup.

question for everyone who had the data loss problem: do you leave your SD card in 24/7? i only have MP3's, eBooks, and anime music videos on mine, so i only pop it in when i'm going to use it...maybe it has something to do with leaving it in? still no idea as to why this might be, but it seems like a possibility...

You should have ran the scandisk with fix all problems automatically checked before the format Daxious. I learned from experience that you can recover your data in this way. Did your file explorer have the ability to show all files? If so you would have probably seen a bunch of folders and files with truly weird filenames. That means your card has become corrupted. What you did along with soft reseting during a save operation and the one that gets me everytime removing the card from a card reader while a write operation is in progress is almost always going to do it.

My advice, which I ignore with alarming regularity, is to give at least 15 seconds extra after you're sure the SD card is finished doing whatever you had it doing before removing the card, soft resetting or ending an SD card installed program.

This happend to me when I first got my x50v. I think it has something to do with WMP10, and it scanning the sd card. I had lots of stuff installed on my sd card originally, then after I tried scanning it from the library to play music the problems started. I tried viewing files with resco and it would lock up and I would soft reset. I hard reset my pocket pc and have not had this problem since. Also I don't really use WMP anymore, when I do I now have my music on my cf card, which I never had a problem with.

Did you just do a ROM upgrade?
I have read where some people upgraded the Axim's ROM and their SD/CF cards were wiped clean for some reason.
