Hi
I have an Axim X50v, what card speeds are suported by the X50v, and is there any advantages to use a higher speed card.
Thanks for your help

I'm wondering also. I plan on buying a 2 gig CF card today to use exclusively for movies. My 1 gig 4x Lexar is doing fine. Will the 4x 2 gig still work or do I need to spend more $ for the faster card?

Any speed out there will work in your Axim. But, you will not see much, if any, difference between the speeds.

The higher speeds are only the faster write speed and not the lower read speed. Even with the high write speeds the SD slot in your Axim is not capable of taking advantage of it. You will get some benefit if you use a USB card reader to transfer files to the card.

Lexar has been selling their 32X cards as standard cards. So that might be your best value.

The higher speeds are inteded for digital cameras to allow the camera to write the image quickly to prevent lag time.

Yes, any speed will work. The faster cards are made more for photography, so there is less lag time between shots.

it is only one of each, some people just need more than one card, so they carry around multiple ones to swap out.

The X50 can hold only one of each card but many people use different cards for back up, music, GPS and so forth.

I have only a 1GB SD card and 4GB CF card.

Hope this answers your question.
