boxwave screen protector - bubbles on sides...
Well I have the standard boxwave screen protector for my X50v (not the crystal one). I installed it once, had a piece or two of lint, so I decided to install it again. I removed it with scotch tape, cleaned it with water and hand soap (as stated by instructions), and then put it back on the device. There were a few very small drops of water (as stated is ok on instructions) also.

Now it appears that the edges are not sticking properly. Actually, upon further inspection, it seems to only be the top and left hand sides. I don't remember the exact day that this re-installation was done, but it has been over a week. Could it be small amounts of water? It says that they will evaporate, but how long should it take, a year? One cannot let it sit and dry, or even more lint will appear on the item. I also have over and over again ran my stylus accross the spaces which appear to have bubbles, they just come right back up instantly, they do not stick even temporarily.

So has anyone else had this problem? Will it go away? Is this a defect in the product?

Any other information that you members have, please clue me in!!

Mine has bubbles as well. What I find most irritating is the scratches on my 5 day old Boxwave.

Louse76,

We are sorry to hear you are having issues with your ClearTouch Anti-Glare.

Regarding the problem with the edges not sticking well, the small amounts of water should not be a problem. We advise you to try washing your ClearTouch one more time (to remove any remaining particles, which may interfere with the sticking).

Concerning your issue with the air bubbles, try "massaging" the screen in an outward direction. This will help to smooth out the screen of any bumps and bubbles.

Hope this helps!

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to provide us with a PM.

Cheers!

i have read some people say that they have sharp stylus' from that scratch the screen, i think mrklaatu (spelling?) says you should lightly rub the tip of your stylus with sandpaper...

I have had mine for more than a month and it still bubbles on the right side and the top a little bit. I just push it back down. It doesn't really bother me. Mine scratches too, but the scratches usually come out with a little rubbing when I clean it.

I noticed that my brando appeared to have scratches, but it turns out they were just imprints. I agree that a little rubbing usually does the job

I got my axim today, washed and tried for many times (5?),
everytime the edges refused to touch the screen for more than 3 minutes.

I gave up.

I've had troubles with Boxwave since the first day.

I had that problem you spoke about (still have it).
Emailed them telling them about it, and they kindly said they would replace it.
The new one they sent me was even worse, and actually had a DENT in it that was way too visible.
So I'm gonna just give up, and stick to my current one.
It has air bubbles at the sides, but they are not really visible when the device is ON.

Overall though, I'm gonna try a different manufacturer, as Boxwave has let me down.

I also have the same problem after washing the Boxwave screen protector to remove some lint. The bubbles are only in the corners and, as such, do not bother me that much. Still ... annoying.

I received a Boxwave cleartouch crystal for xmas. I was really impressed with the clarity but also had corners and edges that just wouldn't stick.

I left it for the recommended 2 weeks; it still had the problem, so I washed and reapplied. I gave it another 2 weeks and then contacted boxwave. They charged us for another one and sent it out. This one was a different design and didn't have the little burrs left from the plastic tab that was there to aid in the removal of the backing. Anyway, the new one had a whole corner that wasn't sticking at all, further inspection showed that the sticky wasn't on this corner at all.

So, boxwave sent another one out and this time it has a scratch vertically down the protector. To make matters worse it sticks less well than my original (luckiky I still have that)

Again, boxwave has told us that they have faith in their product and can charge us again and send another; we seem to just get a generic reply, so I'm not too sure anyone above base level is involved, or if it's just automated keyword replies (soon it will be cheaper to buy a new axim). It's good that they are keen to remedy this. Either we are incredibly unlucky, there is a defect somewhere in their manufacturing process or we're expecting too much from the product.

I would have assumed that the second replacement (If not the first) would have gone through a further QC just to make sure.

So now i'm going to decide if I should give them another chance or just forget it and send them both back or just keep my origional and seemingly better made one.

Does anyone know if boxwave manufacture the protectors themselves? I seem to remember another thread mentioning that someone else was using the same protector manufacturer as boxwave. I would be interested to know who actually makes them.

Has anyone used the javoedge protector? It mentions that it cuts reflection, so I'm guessing it's not as clear as the boxwave crystal.

Dear zerograviti,

It is very unusual that you have received two defective units of the ClearTouch Crystal screen protectors. Has our Customer Service Department directed you in helping you resolve this issue?

If the corners of the ClearTouch not settling down seems to be a big concern, I recommend you try the ClearTouch Anti-Glare. So far we have not had that same problem with the Anti-Glare.

Regarding your other question, we have our very own ClearTouch manufacturer.

I hope this helps address all of your concerns! Please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!

Cheers!
