Be sure to get good quality rechargable NiMh batteris to use with the battery extenders. Those regular alkalines won't cut it.

I purchased a travel unit that uses 9v batteries which worked very well on both a 5 hr flight to NYC and a 14 hour train ride to Denver. I bought it at http://www.mobileplanet.com for about $15. It works great

I agree not only for the power issue, but it will save you money in the long run if you aren't constantly buying more batteries.

USB Battery Adapter by Boxwave
OPTION 1
Boxwave sells a USB battery adapter that uses 4 AA batteries for $20. You would need to also purchase a USB sync/power cable that they sell for $15. Check this link out: http://www.boxwave.com/products/batt...pter/index.htm

= $35 + shipping

OPTION 2
I think a better solution would be to purchase Boxwave's versacharger with the airplane power adapter option ($34) You would need to check with your airline to verify that they have power ports on the plane. The VersaCharger is a universal power adaptor. It adapts to US and foreign voltage and can also be used in the car. All with a very small form factor which means you can leave your bulky Dell power adapter home.
Check it out: http://www.boxwave.com/products/versacharger/index.htm

= $49 + shipping

I ordered a Versacharger but found it couldn't supply enough current to allow my X50v to be used while recharging. (In other words you could only use it to charge the unit when it's powered off). Anyways, I ended up returning that unit. I also have their USB battery adaptor and I know with normal AA cells it's the same results. I'd be curious if anyone has one of these battery packs that would allow the unit to be used while being charged, or if some heavy NiMH batteries might solve that.

I have a targus 90w converter. it has a 110ac on 1 side (AX), and otherside is a cig lighter adapger with the airplane seat plug as well ( I guess the airplane has seat outlets, I don't fly).

It's small and compact so it's good for travel.

Cheers

You can check http://seatguru.com/

In some economy class sections they are every 3 rows, so you just need to know which seat to book ahead of time.

Cheers,
Mike

Charges while x50v (standard battery and auto power management) was on while playing movies except when x50v battery was low on charge (about 15%).
