My Axim lives in a RhinoSkin Hard Case. There is a small piece of rubber to help grip the Axim while it's in the case on the inside that has scuffed the battery cover a little. It's tough to use the Executive Bluetooth Keyboard with the stand while the X50v is in it's case, so it's in and out of the case 5-10 times a day.
The Rhino skin does little to protect the top (I assume to provide easy access to the cards) but I would have preferred som kind of flap to cover the cards while the case is closed. Also, the cut out at the bottom seems to have been enlarged a little too much, almost as if someone saw the battery cover release and thought "Ooh! I'll make sure to make this little button accessable when the case is closed!" and then forgot to make a hole for the soft reset button.
Also, the case is not entirely aluminum: the upper 20% of the back is a hard plastic is more to allow Wifi and Bluetooth signals to pass through than to protect the case. I can see this part snapping off after opening the case too many times, because it's too easy to grab hold of it while attempting to open the tight latch.
The inner portion of the lid holds two SD cards, and they don't touch the screen as far as I can tell. I've found that folding the BoxWave screen cleaning cloth (that comes with the BoxWave screen protectors) helps protect from this (if it happens) but it may put a little pressure on the screen.
Also, the aluminum brushed finish picks up finger prints easily, and becomes warm (from warmth in your hands and the battery) after extended use. I use my X50V in landscape mode, so I hold the open lid of the RhinoSkin in my hands, and the case seems to support the device pretty well, but using the case like this strains the already weak hinge. Using the case in this manner makes the device significantly easier to hold for long periods of time, and provides easy access to the stylus.
In all it's a great case (especially since I got it free). The RhinoSkin would be the perfect case if they could reinforce the hinge so the lid didnt shift. Also, if they could incorporate a thumb board into the lid, and create some way to connect it to the Axim, with break-hinges and rubber pads, it would turn the PDA into a very versatile machine - but that's not going to happen.
