POWER supplying accessories
I realize this is a topic that has been re-re-re-re-rehashed many times over, but I'm hoping to bundle a few related questions into one thread, here. I'll be getting an X50v, as soon as I save up a couple checks from my new job, and/or get my tax refund. My problem lies in the confusion over charging accessories and/or portable power for this juice-greedy Axim.

- For charging, the ideal accessory me would charge the battery (from 60-70% to full in under 6 hours) while using the Axim and syncing, all at the same time. Realistically, I'd like to be able to do 2 of those 3 at once (charge at decent rate, use the device, and/or sync). The cable I use on my iPAQ 2215 has a toggle button that lets you switch from supplying power to data transfer, and I DO like the fact that it allows me to turn off syncing, so that there's not a constant data connection, but switching is still convenient.
- For portable power, I'd like either a cheap, easily rechargeable second battery (so I don't have to carry a cord) or an external battery pack that would supply plenty of juice from 4 (or even 6) AA NiMH batteries. I'd like an external option to at least maintain the internal battery's charge, and optionally even give it a trickle, in addition to supplying power for moderate use (music & other apps, simultaneously).
- My biggest concern is that the accessory in question be RELIABE, while performing its respective function(s), almost regardless of the PC it's connected to. With portable power, I just want it to RELIABLY last roughly 8 hours, w/o plugging it in or getting low battery warnings.

I realize that the X50v is a power hog, with only a modestly adequate standard battery. But really, is this stuff too much to ask?

For those who took the time to read all that, I apologize for the length of my post, but I REALLY want an X50v, but would like to be able to keep the same power-functionality that I currently enjoy with my HP h2215. I was only went this long because of the amount of confusion in various forums, as to what functions any given (X50v) accessory will do at once. I DID read the sticky about voltages & such, and understand the basic concepts.

But all I ask is for a SPECIFIC brand/model for a cable, and for extra battery/battery pack, that will meet my needs. My 'typical' usage varies greatly, anywhere from 30 mins at a time, to 7 or 8 hrs, once in a while. PLEASE tell me what brands/models of cable and/or portable power you would suggest (from ACTUAL, PERSONAL expericnec, please), and thanks in advance, everyone!

That seems like a really good idea. I wish dell pocket pcs came with this.

For a battery extender, I got one of these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...9219 255&rd=1
It works really well. Now I don't have to worry about not having any battery power left. I bought 8 duracell rechargable AA batteries at best buy for like $8 on sale.
