Rough edges on Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal?

I hated to start a new thread for this since there were so many threads about screen protectors but....I did anyway.

I ordered a Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal for my Axim X50 from Aximcases.com. I used to use Brando Workshop but I wanted to try the Boxwave Crystal. Anyway, I received my order yesterday and upon opening the package, noticed that two of the edges were kind of rough and slightly bent, almost as if it had been cut with a dull paper cutter. At first I thought it was just the clear backing material but when I installed it I noticed that two of the edges wouldn't stay down and it looked kind of rough. I installed them correctly and it is not touching the frame around the screen. When looking at the screen you can tell where the two sides are raised up a little and are not sticking to the screen. I'm sure it wasn't damaged in shipment because it was shipped in a box and both the box and the package were in perfect condition. Has anyone else noticed this problem?

I emailed Aximcases and they offered to have me ship it back for an exchange, but I would be wasting my money spending $4.00 to ship back a $10 item. Plus I would have to use my screen without protection until the replacement arrives. I email them back and asked them if they would be willing to send a replacement out and allow me to send this one back by regular mail. ($0.37 vs $4.00. shipping) Actually if it turns out to be a defect, I really shouldn't be out anything for sending it back.

I haven't heard back yet so I thought I would see if anyone else has noticed this. The Brandos I used to use had nice clean edges and always arrived in perfect condition.

This is a common problem with all merchants. They are reliant on the manufactures of goods to make non-defective products. Just as when you buy a devective video card from Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry's or wherever they won't come to your house to pick it up or reimburse you $0.38 per mile, you shouldn't expect this vendor to pay for shipping both ways. It sucks, but that's the way things are.

Mosr vendors don't take RMA's USPS. It sounds like they're bending over backwards for you.

Your real beef is with Boxwave. They are the ones who made a defective product. You just got unlucky.

Better 4$ and no restocking fee....most places i deal with will make you pay the restocking fee even if it is a manufacture defect

Aximcases has good support though, so they should work with you :)

To Aximcases

I just checked my email and received another email from Anna at Aximcases as well as a notice of a post regarding this thread. Yes, Aximcases did handle my problem and did so very quickly. A couple of things I need to say about this:

1) I posted about this here to find out if the rough edges were possibly just the way these were made and if all of them had some rough (slightly bent edges). I had always read good reviews but no one ever mentioned this before and I was beginning to think that maybe I was just being too picky. It was never intended as a complaint about the people at Aximcases. I just didn't think it was worth paying $4 to send it back and then find out that they all are made like that. I have bought from Aximcases a couple of times before and have always received very good service. I have also talked with both Anna and Slava on the phone and found them to be very nice, helpful people.

2) I do understand that if no customer had ever complained about a problem like this before, it might suggest that the item had been damaged in shipment or that it had been installed incorrectly or that the customer was just too picky. I'm not sure about the "too picky" part but I feel certain that it was not damaged in shipment and I am positive that I installed it correctly. I have installed screen protectors many times before (mainly Brando) and found the Boxwave to be much easier to install. I think this is due to the fact that it is slighly smaller than the screen. Not much smaller but just enough to make it easy to install.

Thank you Anna (Aximcases) for taking care of this problem for me. I keep checking your site to see if the Bellagio cases for the X50 are in but it looks like I will have to wait a little longer. If it is possible, put me on a list to email when they are back in stock.

Thank you!
