Dell Axim X50 1440 mAh Lithium-Ion Removable, Rechargeable (standard)
On the Dell Europe (UK) site, the X50 Bluetooth model shows a 1440 mAh as the standard removable battery.
Is this a typo? If not, why isn't used in all X50 models - or at the very least offered as an alternative upgrade to the plugly 2200 mAh thang which turns your Dell into the PDA equivalent of the hunchback of Notre Dam?
It must be a typo. I went on the Dell UK site (www.dell.co.uk) and couldn't find it anymore. But I did find the battery for the X30/X3 and all the writing was in Danish (I think). For certain it wasn't English, but it was the UK site. So I figure what you saw was either the battery for the X5 or it was a typo. Also, the X50 batteries from Dell are very expensive. Dell UK is selling the 1100mAh battery for $67USD (£35.49) and the 2200mAh battery is being sold for $109.87USD (£58.05)!
I think Dell USA must make pricing decisions independently from Dell in other regions of the world. Frankly, I think they have underpriced the unit in the USA. Their next nearest price competitor is "street price" just over $500. That's about $75-$100 more than the Axim x50v goes for (depending on which deal you get in on). That competitor is the Asus A730, which doesn't even have 802.11b!
It's no wonder that the Dell is so popular. Of course Dell doesn't have to pay other companies to sell their prodcuts like HP, Asus, etc do (distributors and retailers), but still--it's pretty incredible that they are more than $150-$200 less than the competition from HP here in the US.
Of course econ 101-when price is low it increases demand. And Dell can't seem to supply the demand. No wonder USA prices have risen on the x50v in recent weeks.
Irwin, Ja kocham Polska! Gdzie mieszkasz? I lived in Wroclaw for a year! Shoot me a PM.
Warsaw? Worked there with Chello Broadband for a while. Too much vodka, including some bizarre cocktail (if you can call a pure vodka drink that) that was made to resemble the Polish flag (I think it was called Polish Freedom or something like that).
