X50v headset (not headphone)
Hadn't seen it here. Sorry if this is old news. The headset/headphone jack issue has been definitively resolved. Dell now has a Headset in the accessories for the X50v. It's a plantronics thing, and they hid it in peripherals instead of putting it in communications where it belongs IMHO. I'm not crazy about it, but it works fine and is official. They even say

It's a four conductor plug but a mono earphone thing.

The thing that interests (or confuses) me, is another bullet.

One-touch call answer/end control
Just what application is it supposed to answer/end a call in??? It has the typical button on the bulb in the middle of the cord like most cell phone headsets, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Doesn't start/stop recording, doesn't answer/end Skype, or Portrait, doesn't push to talk in Portrait...doesn't come with any paperwork that might give a clue. What do you suppose they were thinking when the put that in the copy as a Product Highlight? There have been rumors about a Dell Phone Edition, or even Smartphone. Could it be they got an accessory out too early? Or at least got the marketing blurb out too early?

Maybe someone with a lot of time on their hands and tenacity can call

i have a set and it works fine for dictating. i find that musically, the sound quality is bland. to listen to music, i record xmradio streams with nero soundtrax (free) and use headphones designed for my home unit. amazingly, the x50v has enough power to supply PLENTY of volume. use the eq tweak and it will sound even better.

Why would someone need a headset for a PDA?. Use standard earbud for listening and use the built-in microphone for recording. Am I missing something?

well, you could use it for better voice recognition or use it like a telephone with skype. i don't own a cell phone, so i could see the benefit of using it as a phone if i absolutly had to beings i have constant wi-fi while at school. i don't think i would buy one though.
