For the Boxwave screen protector installation look at View MyPDA and follow the link on how to apply this. I use this method at work and I install them free of lint, dust or any particles. I would recommand to do a hard reset and start from scratch. If you PPC is still acting up call Dell and they will replace it at no cost to you. Hope this help!

I uninstalled the program and still had the issue. Luckily I had backed up that day (yes, I'm really anal about it), so I did a hard reset and rolled back to my backup and everything's been cool since then. It could be an incompatibility with my software--I've got a couple of programs loaded onto my device including vBar.

Since this is off the topic of this thread, feel free to PM me if you'd like. For the record I really liked PocketBreeze, and I think the incompatibility may have more to do with the x50v hardware than with your software. I have seen several other threads here where people have complained about similar issues with other similar Today plugins. I was going to run the trial again after the next firmware update comes out (I'm running A02).

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming... :D
I see :) not much I can help I guess. This can happen when having many Dlls loaded on the device because all Dlls are loaded to the same location which is limited and this causes all the trouble. This is probably caused by incompatibility with other software+hardware running.

Before I would call Dell I'd try another hard reset, make sure active sync starts with a fresh mobile device name, then before you add any new programs, see if IE still is bad or not. Have you performed the ROM update? Perhaps this is the problem. If problems persist definit3ly call Dell. Mine runs beautifully.

I also had problems with PocketBreeze, although I think it is when using PB in combination with other today plug-ins. If I have it installed alone it works fine. Other today programs without PB works fine. The deadly combo seems to be: PocketBreeze, WeatherPanel, and SPB Pocket Plus. These three together set my Axim into an infinite loop of automatic soft resets. The only thing I could do to stop it was a hard reset. Thankfully, I had everything backed up.

If I remember correctly, I had SPB and PB already installed (worked fine).I also uninstalled Pocket Weather because the trial ran out and I decided I liked WeatherPanel better. I uninstalled PB and then I installed Pocket Informant and WeatherPanel to BIS. When I reinstalled PB is when it all went to sh!t.

I hard reset my unit and tried reinstalling all the today plug-ins 1 by 1. The conflict seems to be most likely between WeatherPanel and PB, or WeatherPanel and SPB, but I'm not entirely sure. After about 4 or 5 attempts (hard reset and reinstall), I was able to get it all working together, so I decided to leave it alone. It might have been something to do with the order I installed them.

I had this problem previously when I first reloaded my programs after the ROM update. I had forgotten that the WeatherPanel was causing the problem (which was the whole reason for trying Pocket Weather). However, I can't remember if it was PB or SPB that it had the conflict with. I don't Know if this will help but that's my 2cents.

Frenchy, thanks for the Boxwave advice. That's what I tried the first time I installed it, but it didn't do wonders. And now the screen protector is a complete mess. Ah well, I'm going to do another hard reset. Thanks!

Magic button is junk, stick to the standard 'Switcher Bar' application. I also prefer SE_VGA, not as customizable but leaner and more stable than oz.

If those standard apps still crash even without those apps installed, I would say you have a bad unit. Also don't install the flash plugin for pocket IE, it constantly crashes it. I have zero problems with my x50v, so either bad unit or bad combo of software.

I read through this thread, and I heard a lot of personal opinions, but not a lot of facts.

-You should not have to own a high end PDA, only to install one or two programs. Yes, you have to be careful, and not all software is super-compatible. but have loads of software on mine and it works great (including Magic Button). Eye-Candy software like themes and skins, I stay away from.

-Boxwave screen protectors are rated among the best. I just put on the anti-glare one today. By far the best look and feel for a screen protector ever, and it went on extremely easy!!! Again, this is solely due to preference. Most people who have problems did not take the time to install them correctly.

A lot of people come on to this site for advice and proper reviews, please be careful that you don't simply offer baseless advice out of your bad experience.

Magic button is great! I can't imagine using SB. I had so many problems (as well as a lot of others on this site) that were fixed with MB. Vbar is good too.... but your advice about trying it out before installing ANYTHING is excellent.
