Does Rhinoskin Protect? Absolutely!

I had quite a scare today. Came out of a call at a customer site, put my bag in the trunk of the car, and placed my x50v on the top of the car while I took off my jacket (don't ever do this...).

My co-worker got into the car, pulled out of the parking lot, and proceeded to drive down the road at about 40 mph. We hit a bump about 1/4 of a mile down the road, and immediately heard a thump and a clatter. Of course I immediately remembered that I had left the x50v on the top of the car. We turned around, and went back up the road. There it was, 200 yards back, face down on the pavement with the case open. I was ready for the worst.

Believe it or not, it survived! A few major scratches on the case, and a few scratches on the silver case of the Axim, but everything worked well.

I'd say a case works pretty well if it protects your pocketpc from a 6 foot fall at 40 mph onto a concrete roadway!

How much bulkier is it compared to the default case? I am leaning toward getting one but don't want an oversized case.

Thanks,

Damager you are my new idol. That is a great story. Made my night a good one. Thanks. :approve: JDH

I use Rhino Skin on my x30 and have dropped 4 or 5 feet on concrete floor and it doesnt hurt a dern thing. That case is a bad boy. Glad everything is alright for you. JDH

Yikes. Sounds terrifying. I think I might get a Rhinoskin, but I'd like to know... will the Axim fit in your pocket with the Rhinoskin? I'm guessing it won't.

That's good to hear :approve: . They seem like a good investment that can save you $100s.

Just a quick warning about the Rhino-skin. I have already posted this in another thread so sorry but I feel this is important. The Rhino-skin is great protection, but if you use the belt clip BEWARE!! The back and forth swaying of the case will un-screw that pivot pin. The pivot pin WILL NOT stay attached to the case unless you use a thread locker like Lock Tight. And make sure you use a non-removable thread locker. I had mine crash to the floor after first using the removable type. After that crash I applied a little non-removable and it has held tight for 2 months now. I still check it every day just to be sure.
