Axim will already be signed onto WL-HDD, (since it acts as an access point.) and if you set it up as your preferred AP, Axim will not start looking for a different network!
(Also considering the proximity to the AP; you’ll have the best signal and therefore it doesn’t need to look for a better one!)

just got mine today...so easy to set up. Although Ive not checked speed it readily downloads avi files onto a CF or SD card in my Axim.
Also as stated earlier, I was able to watch an episode of band of Brothers on the hdd!
Also works without wireless with a Ratoc host usb card/connector. Ill probably get a cheapish CF ethernet adadpter and check speeds.
This has got to be my most exciting Axim addon yet!!

Axim n00b

I've got my WL-HDD connected to my X50v. How do I get mp3s on the disk to play in media player without typing in the full share path to the file in the "open url" dialog box?

I use MortPlayer for MP3s! (Freeware), so, I set the path in the player! :icon_band
Also I am using GSFinder (Freeware) which allows me to map drives on my Axim.:approve:

For Media Player I’ll say, get GSFinder and map your MP3 folder!

Or maybe make a play list with full network path (haven’t tried it!! )

What NAS options are there?
I know this, Rio Karma, a Netgear router with USB Mass Storage support...

Anything else? And how well do those work with the axim? ^_^

I wished it came in 3.5" as I have a drive ready to go... I don't need to buy another HDD.... :(

Did you buy with HDD installed already? Or did you add HDD?

How much did it cost you to set it up?

Thanks,

WL-HDD for $89.99
And a 60GB 2.5" HD for $94.99

Very easy to add the hard drive!
Just remove the cover and insert the drive and secure it (screws for it came in a bag in the box).
Plug it and it is ready to go :)

Connect it to your router to access the setup page…and change the setting as required!
Or connect to it from your Axim (the default setting will allow you to see it as an access point)

This does seem to be a great storage device for the Axim! Does anyone know if this will work in a car - can it be powered with some type of car adapter? Also curious if it's been tried with an x51v yet...
