I am looking for external speakers for PDAs in general to project the mp3 files from my Axim x50v. Any suggestions on which are the best and where to buy them from?

You can use any amplified speakers with a minijack input. Almost all computer speakers will work. Just get a male-to-male minijack adapter (you can buy at Radio Shack if you're in the U.S.) and away you go!

Edit: Actually, you don't always need the adapter. I just use one because my computer speakers have an input that I can use so I don't have to unplug the speakers from the back of the computer.

the connector on the X50 series (and most pda's) is the same as a head phone jack or your PC Speaker jack, so pc speakers and portable speakers for CD players (availible at most electronic stores) work great

I'm going with the Virgin Electronics boomtube for my new speakers. I just hope they're as loud as they look. They have a new product called boomtube ex but I don't like the idea of a non-replacable battery, at least I think it's not user replacable???

I should have some pictures by Wednesday.

We just bought little speakers for my Axim on Saturday. We got Cyber Acoustics speakers from Circuit City. They are pretty and sound great! (pretty IS important, you know!)

Of course - they do not run off batteries......if that's what you want.....then nevermind!

If you're interested in something small and easily portable, I have a set of podwaves that should work nicely. They have decent sound for their small size.
