what's good about bluetooth keyboards vs IR?
With the battery drain, compatibility issues, and much higher price, what is there to like about a bluetooth keyboard over an IR keyboard? I know some IR keyboards lag, but if you get the Thinkoutside one which it seems has no issues, don't IR keyboards beat the bluetooth keyboards? or is it just the novelty of saying Bluetooth?

Thanks

I would also like to know how well (or not) the IR keyboards work in landscape mode.

Look at this thread:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=74070

You can put your keyboard on the stand or anywhere you want with bluetooth. I like sitting on the floor with my keyboard on my lap and my Axim at my side instead of right in front of it or worrying about sticking everything on a table so I can align the Axim with the IR port. The biggest bonus for me, though, is that bluetooth enables multiple simultaneous keypresses--IR doesn't.

I think that's mostly it. I also like to keep my keyboard on my lap, with my feet up on my desk with the Axim in landscape mode nearby at eye level. Picture me in a serious recline. I wrote my whole thesis in this position {Compaq SLT-286 with wired but detachable keyboard} rather than the lousy ergonomics of being hunched over a laptop with an even smaller screen. People used to joke that I could type in my sleep.

I just wish you could get a BT keyboard for an IR price, but I am a horrible cheapskate!

Like the others said, the advantage is location, location, location. I have an IR keyboard I never use because I rarely have a stable surface to align all parts concerned. BT would be much easier to use in my typical environment.

Yea I'd agree IR sux I can remove the stand from my BT keyboard set the Axim and keyboard anywhere I want and type. I take it over on my other workbench and can still type and use my X50v and it great in the car entering GPS software addresses has never been simpler try doing that with an IR keyboard.

How picky are the IR keyboards? They really have to be on the stand to receive signal or just pretty close?

How bad is the battery drain on the BT keyboards? If you're using it for 4 hours how much of that is decreased by the keyboard?

Thanks for the help!
