I just ordered one from Dell Outlet.
Anyway, after I ordered, a notice came up saying that the power/sync cords have lead on them and can cause birth defects, etc.

Is this true? If so, I'm canceling my order. We have infant triplets at home and a 4 year old. They wouldn't chew on these, but could get contact with one inadvertently. I usually keep the tech. stuff put away when they're around...but you know.

How can they sell these things with those cords? They should be replaced.

Got a link to that warning? I'm a bachelor and totally missed that.

Nope. It wasn't a link...it was a warning screen during the "purchase" process at Dell. I wasn't paying too much attention and then clicked to go on. THEN..wanted to go back and check...do you think I can find it? NOT.

California Paranoia...most likely due to the solder....I wouldnt panic.

Do you have any idea how many electronic devices in your home contain lead solder ?

I'll try that tomorrow. I'll be at a computer without my Dell clokies. Was it in what they call the EULA or maybe the Privacy statement... Did you have to click on something to see the warning in other words?

What's all this then???

How do you get California Paranoia from a member with no loacation listed?

For that matter, where the heck are you from RWPBR?
One of my pet peeves.

A lot of small electrical cabling is like this. Another example is Christmas lights - the same warning is found on them.

Sorry -

Okay...Okay...I'm not in CA.

I've heard about the Christmas cord thing, but the warning on those doesn't say to "Wash your hands" after handling. I'm just being cautious. I'm a cancer-survivor and am quite apprehensive about any of these sorts of issues and don't want to take the chance with my kids around.

The warning was on a screen, no link, and I think it did mention something about CA requiring these types of notices.

As for CA paranoia, if there is any "slight" chance of this being true, how can someone else ridicule it? I've been through the chemical ravages of chemo, been bald, weak, etc. I'd never take any deliberate chance, even a small one, with my children. So, please think before you say "paranoia". Yes, this is being overly hypersensitive to it, but it goes with the territory.

Oh, I have two children myself and I have no problems with someone who is overcautious. As a matter of fact, I don't think you can be too cautious.

By the way, my Christmas lights do say "wash you hands" after handling.

I hope you can find a way to work it out. I have my x50v cradle in a corner of the table and the cables run underneath the table so there isn't really a chance of getting to any or it. Just a thought.

Good luck.

It wasnt your paranoia I was refering to but the State of California's. They require warning on products sold in their state. Most Nations now mandate lead free solder but not all do. If a product is made in one of these countries there must be a warning label for it to be sold in California. Dell just warns everybody to be on the safe side.
