semsons power bank question...

the semson's power bank works great to help keep your battery topped off while on the road. i use the power bank that has the built in charger as well as 4 energizer 2300 mah nihm batteries. The question that i have is i left the batteries in the power bank over night (unconnected to my axim) and by morning the batteries were drained. Why would the batteries get drained while in the power bank if the power bank is not connected to anything that could draw the juice from the batteries? does the power bank itself draw any juice from the batteries while "idle"?

Seems odd to me.

why would you though use the power bank while on the road? That is - if you are in the car there's a great charger via USB cable and when you are in a hotel/place with electric plug there is as well for the wall (i even think there's one for the plane in business class+)

The batteries have their own loss but it is usually very small. Are you sure they were full when you put them in?

sometimes i don't have access to a power outlet (i.e. on a bus or train or something) so i use the power bank to charge. for anyone who owns the power bank from semsons with the led lights that can charge and recharge from the device, do you notice battery drain while batteries are inside the power bank?

I had that happen once as well...

with the Semsons Power Bank-I was using the included 1600 MaH batteries...I set the switch in the back to #2 for pure wall
charging, and to #1 for discharging and then recharging.
It was set on #2 when this happened. The USB cable was
also attached when it happened.

PS: If you figure this out, could you please drop me
a PM or email?

I will do the same.
Thanks

A reply from Semsons RE: Power Bank

Hi MPL,

1. Normally, you can just left the setting on mode 2 since this will charge the battery faster. However, just use mode 1 about once every month, this will condition the batteries to keep them at optimal performance.

2 / 3. You can take the battery out of Power Bank if you don't plan to use the Power Bank for a while. With the current battery technology, the battery will drain slowly even if you don't use it. If you plan to use the Power Bank on daily basis, then we recommend that you just leave it on the AC outlet for trickle charging. This way, you can have a set of fully charged
batteries every time you need them.

4. Do you keep the Power Bank plugged into the AC outlet? If you do, the battery should trickle charge the battery to keep at the optimal level.

5. It does not matter. Mode 1 or 2 is for charging the NiMh batteries. It has nothing to do with Dell Axim.

6. If you set the setting to 2, it shouldn't discharge the NiMh battery. However, the battery will loose power overtime even if you just leave it in the air. That is why the Power Bank is designed in such way so that it will trickle charge the battery when left on the AC outlet.
