Bluetooth with a PC..
Hello...

I'd like to pick up a USB Bluetooth adaptor to use with a couple machines (and my x50v of course). From what I've read I should be looking for a BT 1.2 model. Other then that, is there any advantage to the 100 meter models vs. 10 meter models? Would the x50v be the limiting factor for range anyways? Any recommendations for model would be great.

Also I'm assuming BT will allow me to do filetransfer, activesync and network access w/ the x50v using less power then Wifi. Please correct me if I'm wrong.. Thanks!

I just picked up a trendnet BT 1.1 100m range adapter, works great

I can get out about 300ft with my X50v, with the 10m ones you would not get that kind of range.

Yes, BT takes a bit less power then wifi from what I have heard.

Well I'm streaming khaha.com and posting from a X50v and a t610 phone. I'm more worried about the phone than my Ax.

Of course it doesn't hurt that the power cords are inches away and I use an extended battery.

That's amazing! I always thought the x50 was a class 2 device. Now I regret not buying a class 1 adapter.

I picked up an IOGear 1.2 class 1 device and get pretty much the same reception/range. I hate DL'ing stuff on ActiveSync at that speed though. WiFi works much better for loading programs and MP3's IMHO.

The advantage of 1.2 over 1.1 is automatic channel hopping. If someone picks up a wireless phone or another bluetooth device and starts to walk on your established bluetooth signal a 1.2 device will re-negotiate another channel to resume communications on. A 1.1 device will just suffer with the degraded communication until it either ends or the signal fails all together and you manually re-establish it.

Just so people dont freak out, I have not noticed any problems of interference with my 2.4ghz phone system, BT Cell Phone, TO Keyboard and Mouse, or the two wifi networks i have going in my house
