Here's something I use to do with all my ipaq's. I never liked the big battery cover that comes with the extened batteries so I get rid of them. Here's what I do incase you would like to try it.
- Cut the ORIGINAL cover in the middle to fit the extended battery just right.
- Once you have the cut perfectly to fit around the battery just insert the cover to the x50v and lock it like usuall. Than slide in the extended battery and snap it in place.
- Next, I wrap the outside and with black THIN leather to cover the words and such of the battery. I also had to cover one side with leather half way. The color of the leather is black although it looks blue (camera phone). It matches and blends in perfectly.
What you get is something very nice to hols without the bulky cover hitting your hand. It looks very nice (picture don't do it justice) and easy to carry around. It can also come out easily to be replaced with another extended battery.
Now to modify the back of the SENA case to acomadate this modifcation.
If you want detail instructions PM me if you like.
I actually find the extended battery cover convenient to hold in my hand so I can't really see the point. Also I want to use my standard battery sometimes.
I wish Dell would let you order just extended batteries if that's what you want though.
"I actually find the extended battery cover convenient to hold in my hand so I can't really see the point."
That's the point, much better to hold and without the BULK that the extended battery cover puts out. Seems you don't mind bulky things and that's okay. But for me the closer I can have my axim to being slim the better. Do this, take the extended battery cover off you axim. Leave the battery in there. Now pretend to using the axim by holding it without the bulky cover, also put it in your pocket. That is how it feels and how slim it is by just cutting the original battery cover to fit the extended battery. You guys just don't know what your missing, to bad.
Why don't you just use the extended battery without the cover at all (put a nylon string into the latch to allow power on). I saw a post somewhere saying the whole package would fit in any normal case.
For your case, you might want to stick your think layer of leather over.
My way looks and performs as it came from dell (picture don't do it justice trust me). To use it without the cover looks cheesy like an amateur did the work. Please let this thread die, just wanted to share an awsome idea that you guys just cannot picture. I did not start this thread for any ideas, I'm VERY HAPPY with this setup. thx
This mod makes me eek. Thats quite a desperate measure for little gain. Now your unit will look like crap with the regular battery in.
too each his own. As long as you like it.

Little gain desperate measures? It may seem desperate to YOU because you have no clue on how's it's done. How can you even say "little gain" when you have NEVER seen it in person nor used it in this way? That's like me saying your website makes me eek and it has little value without having visited it. But, I did click on your link and must say it's a very nice website. I'll have to check it out later tonight.
I wasn't ripping you. I just can't see the justification on cutting a main part of the casing fo rit. Like I said as long as you like it thats all that matters. I was just voicing my opinion as it is. Its all good.
P.S. I haven't had time to do diddly on the site for quite some time

New2Dell;
Nice job as long as your happy what does it matter what others think. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Without other peoples ideas we would still be in the dark ages. Enjoy.
