experience with belt clips

I'm planning on using my new case with belt clip to free up my pockets. I've heard some story about those pocketPCs poping out accidentally from belt clips. What are the chances and what caused it if it happened to you?

Sena seems to have one of the best belt clips, but their price ($48) sounds surely stiff to me...

Sena is a nice case case with a sturdy clip and available for 15% off at: http://www.cases.com/aximsite.htm

Rhino skin, and cases like them, the knob screws into the back of the case then slides into the belt clip. That knob can work out, staying in the clip, but the case and Axim fall... adding some loctite secures the knob. This will solve all the problems.

I've not had any experience with a PDA falling out of a leather case. Happy shopping.

Just happened to me yesterday. My Axim popped up from the belt clip and hit the floor, while I was getting out of my car. Scratched a little bit on the lower left corner (not protected by the case). You can't see anything, but you can feel the scratch.
The problem that I have with Sena clip is that there is not click when you put your Axim in. So you don't really know if it's secure or it didn't get to the point where it locks up in the clip. I have a second clip that I got in a bundle with different cables for Axim from E-Bay. I like that one better, because it clicks every time you put your Axim in. Though it's less comfortable and less secure (you can only pull Axim from Sena clip if you rotate it 90 degrees).

I disagree with this, My Sena case with the clip will only go onto the clip in the sidways position, it will make a very distinct click. Then you can swivel it around and around with no chance of falling off. Maybe you have a defective clip...

The belt clip on my PDair case is very secure and works well but use Locktite on the screw treads.I think that comming unscrewed from the case is the biggest complaint.

The Ultra Clip is the way to go. Sena and Vaja use them. It really should have clicked Hobbbbit.

Belt clips

I was wondering if there are belt clips available that are made of metal. I need a metal post and a metal base. As a firefighter/paramedic, I have a tendency to destroy belt clips by catching what it's holding on different things (climbing in and out of vehicles, climbing on top of objects, and the like). I had the same issue with a cheesy belt clip from motorola for my phone, which is very similar to what I'm seeing for the the PDA cases. All was better when I found a nice sturdy clip for my phone.

When I bought my X50v, here in the UK, I ordered a Dell Leather case. I ordered this blind, as there was no description or picture of it on the Dell website. It cost £12.50 = approx $20 at the present rate of exchange, excluding our 17.5% VAT sale tax.

It turned out to be a very nice case with a magnetic closure fold over cover, which gives good screen protection. It also comes with two belt clips, one about an inch long and the other about two inches long (for narrow and wide belts presumably !).

I would be very surprised if this case was not made by Sena for Dell, but it is a lot cheaper. :approve:

I have not seen this case offered on the US Dell website.

Yeap, that's exactly what I said, my Sena clip will not allow you to take Axim out if you didn't turn it sideways first. But mine doesn't click for some reason. It fell out because I assumed that I pushed it all the way down and it's secured now, but I didn't. Mostly my fault, I guess. But as long as you push your Axim all the way down the clip, you can't pull it out unless you turn it 90 degrees and push the button.
