Audiovox RTM-8000 phone via add-on Bluetooth?
I received an AudioVox RTM-8000 GSM/GPRS CF card bundled free with my x50v in the UK.

I knew it wouldn't transfer voice via the PDA - only offering headset operation - but I've been pleased with its limited capability so far (both as a phone and as a data card).

I now discover that you can buy bluetooth adaptors for non-bluetooth phones that attach to a standard 2.5mm headset socket - Jabra make one, as do Bluemate. I already have a BT headset, so for around £25 I'd be interested in buying one as I returned an XDA IIs in favour of the x50v, but miss the phone capability (in every other respect the x50v is streets ahead!).

Has anyone experience of successfully using such a combination? I couldn't find any references via Google.

Cheers

Well I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, although you are then building up quite a bulky thing to carry in your pocket and as for getting a case to fit it...

Seriously though. I got the card free with the axim and used it to make a couple of calls to see that it worked. After the novelty wore of i haven't used it since and am back to using my phone for voice calls.

Do you find it practical to use for voice and data? and do you reckon i should give it another go? any tips or tricks?

In any case let us know how you get on

Thanks, Andy

It's quite effective as a fallback for data transfer when no WLAN is available; one reason I wanted it was for a traffic service with GPS. Voice calls are a pain with the headset.

Thinking more about the bluetooth option - I can't see any voice dialling capability in the software, so this would render it impractical to use in a car, unless anyone knows of third party software for this, although it could start to get an expensive option...?
