using pda for voip (skype)
hi, I bought my x50 for this use and was wondering how many others are using it also for this purpose.

If some of you have some advice especially relating to the x50 series using voip I welcome any thoughts or innovations that have made it easier or better.

I took the earplugs 3.5mm from my mp3 player and will use the mic on the pda.

thanks

I use my X50v for pocket skype acouple of times, The effect is pretty good. The only limitation of pocket skype is that it can not sponsor conference call. I use the built-in microphone, and an external headphone for skype.

Good luck

It works great from all over the world. Use a headset if you want more speaker privacy.

t
thanks for the replies ...I choose Dell for a pda because I kept reading all the problems Ipaq users were having with skype .

Besides why pay and extra 150.00 for another make of pda that might not be as reliable.

thanks again ...hope to try skype on my pda today.

Cyber Acoustics AC-210 is inexpensive ($US 20) and light-weight.

Woohoo.. I just tried my x50v with my cellphone headset and it's working great.

There is a lot of Cellphone Headset and small too to choose from, from any stores... It's using 2.5mm Phone Jack. Then go to Radio Shack and get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm Adapter for $6 CND. I tested it out and it work great and the sound so clear. Oh yeah you can listen to mp3 on it too and use recording features too with the headset

I have been using an old disposable headset that the airlines provide for listening to movies. Not very high fidelity, but it works great for Skype!

can you elaborate that last part a bit more? you mean the 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter, the ppc is capable of recording from the mic on the cellphone headset? i thought the 3.5mm jack is only for audio output. do you have to install any kinda driver for it?

no. The Phone Jack on the x50 actually capable for both Mic and Speaker. So if you convert a regular Cellphone headset to put in there with the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. Then you got a Headset with MIC and Ear piece just like you are talking on a cellphone if you Skype with your wireless
