Need a Couple of Recommendations for My New X50v
Could use a little guidance from you experts

I am debating between the new Hitachi 6GB Microdrive and a Sandisk 4GB CF card. While I do use an extended battery...I was wondering whether the Xtra 2GB's was a good tradeoff for the additional battery drain from the Microdrive...the only thing I would use the extra space for would be to carry an extra couple of movies probably. Would it be better to keep movies on a couple of SD cards from a power management standpoint?

Also, any one have a suggestion for:

A good set of retractible cord headphones (or noise cancelling ones maybe)

A travel charger only (don't need to sync on the road)

A software app to sniff out available LAN's.

Thanks!

The Microdrive will use more juice. If you use a device like Betaplayer that has an adjustable buffer you can decrease the drain by loading more of your movie data/MP3s with each spin. Most estimate an increase 20-30% drain with a microdrive.

Masy people use Wififofum as an app for finding LAN's.

from what I have heard the microdrives actually dont drain the battery that much, if you are using an extended battery you should be fine, one of my friends works for hitachi and I am getting a microdrive for free! so happy! headphons, if you are looking for retractables, javo edge is supposed to make some nice ones (www.javoedge.com) in the noise cancelling category bose is very likely the best, but I have two pairs of philips noise cancelling, and they are terrific.

hope this helps abit, if not, o well I tried

That is a good idea and I had mentioned it in another thread. I think someone should put up a "who wants a microdrive mass purchase to reduce price" poll on the main page.
