Question about buying extra memory w/ new x50v...
I'm chomping at the bit to buy a new pda. Currently slobbering over the new x50v. Since my last pda was an old palm os with a black and white screen, I need some advice about these new fangled memory slots.

It comes with a CF and SD slot. Should I buy an extra CF or SD card? Which one or both? I'm not sure what would be useful to me.

Depends on what your going to do with your Axim. I have both CF and SD cards. I keep an SD card in the slot at all times.

If you want to use some accessory that plugs into the CF slot such as a wired ethernet, however, you don't want your important software/files stored on a CF because they will be unavailable while using the slot for the accessory. So, that's when the SD card becomes your friend!

welcome to the site. it all depends on what you are going to do with the pda. If you are going to use any devices they will most likely be cf format such as a gps but they can also be bluetooth so you won't have to use eiter slot. I have a 1gb sd card and a 2.2gb cf microdrive. I use the sd card for my everyday stuff along with the built in storage (bis). I put as little as possible on the main memory since it is shared with the system and will cause slow downs if not enough mem is available to programs when they need it. But some programs will let you know that they won't work any where else so you have to do a little homework when you put together your software to get a good balance. I am going to use the microdisk for movies so it won't always be in the cf slot. look around the site and you will find a lot of different uses for the two slots and how people have solved their particluar problems.

to Aximsite!

I have a CF and SD card in my Ax. After that, my preferred memory of choice is the SD card because all of the cases I own only have storage for the SD card.

The X50V is the first device I have owned with built in WIFI and I have to admit that I don't miss having to use a wireless CF card. Now the only thing I am swapping out is my SD card for the SD GPS receiver I have. I don't use it much so it's not too much of a pain in the neck. I am hoping to pick up a BT GPS receiver soon so that will eliminate that problem all together.
