X50 series keyboard compatibility list

Well, I've been searching for a keyboard for my X50v and want to buy it in store for convenience of returning it. Most of the keyboards in-store I'm not too sure about compatibility so I guess I'm interested in a list of keyboards that work with the X50 series and some of their features and price range.

Something like this:
-Name of keyboard (Brand)
-Price (list the dealer if you can find it lower than normal price)
-Compatible/Incompatible
-Connectivity (BT, IR, etc)
-Number row (yes/no)
-Other features
-General experience

I don't know if a thread like this has already been made but I didn't see a sticky. I'm hoping a sticky could be made out of this later or something.

Targus PA870u (v2.0)
price approx $60
IR
number row which has slightly smaller keys than the letter keys by 1/2
uses 2 lithium 3V "watch" batteries
has a lock mechanism
has a semi mouse like pad and programmable buttons
my only problem with it is that the space bar is cut in half for the folding mechanism and that is usually where I hit the space bar. It just takes some getting used to.

Tragus needs the most updated driver for the axim and they officially say that they don't support the keyboard. I have found that Targus support doesn't even know what thier product can do most of the time. e.g. they say that it can't support hebrew, but it does.

good consrtuction and good key feel (subjective)

I am happy with it. and it is good because I used it for my Sony Clie beforehand so I was able to carry one whole accessory over to my new axim!!! Who knows - maybe even the next one (i know, i know - don't push it!:) )

ThinkOutside Bluetooth Keyboard
Price: Around $90 at Amazon.com
Compatable: Yes
Takes a little getting used to with 2 different Fn buttons and no number row, but is very well made and response time is superb.

I'm selling a mint condition ThinkOutside bluetooth keyboard on Aximsite (see the classified forum). It works great with my X50v; I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it. $80 shipped or best offer.

I decided to go with the ThinkOutside IR keyboard because I was worried about compatibility issues with other keyboards. The other one I was looking at was the PalmOne Universal IR keyboard, but it costed a lil bit more and the reviews didn't look as good. The price was $46 before tax. I'm a little sad that there's no number row but I'll try to live without it.

I bought a Belkin and have not been too happy with it. It looks like it is metal, but I accidently dropped it early on, and broke off a tiny pin that holds a small piece on that looks like the "back of a book" when the keyboard is folded, so that piece is no longer is attached securely. It is definately a cheap brittle plastic, which is poorly constructed.

This is a pain, because it drains the battery since there is a little button that is compressed with the keyboard is closed that turns the battery off. That doesn't happen anymore on mine.

At first I had trouble making this work, but with greater experience with my PDA, I have been able to overcome that. It needs to be on a rather large flat surface to use it.

Another bummer...to use the stylus and store it back in the PDA...you hit the mirror for the IR everytime and knock it out of whack. I get in the habit of putting it back in the PDA between uses at other times...so it annoys me when I am using the keyboard.

Pluses, it does work in landscape, and you can attach the cord and plug it in while you are using it in landscape mode.

Hope this helps. If you buy one, protect it carefully from bumps!

Hmm wonder why there isnt an entry for the TO IR
Think Outside IR keyboard
$45 from amazon, free ship and tax free.
Works well
Infrared
No number row, must hold FN to access numbers and Shift+FN to get those symbols like @ but its not bad.
Supposed to work on everything
Uses 2 AAA but does not indicate remaining battery life
Is nice and did not need much adaptation to get used to. The only gripe I have is I sometimes forget I am holding the FN key while typing numbers and hit the Back Space and end up turning my axim off. Gah
The keyboard cradle like thing is also an important thing of interest.. it holds the x50v welll in both portrait and landscape (to the left). And can still hold my axim while still in the Rhinoskin case. The IR beam does not look like it will be able to send to the axim when its in the case, but it still works. I dont think the axim with the extended battery will fit in the built in cradle though. Lastly, it folds nicely and will work on most surfaces OK as long as you dont slide the keyboard around as that will cause the entire creadle thing to collapse.

PockeTop IR Keyboard
£15.95 (new) from Expansys UK
Works with Dell X50v with modified driver
3 rows of keys (no Number row)
Works really well - love it - especially for half the cost of most other keyboards
