Is anyone else having problems with thier mount blowing the main fuse for the lighter adapter? I tried replacing it with a 20 amp instead of a 15 amp and each time it blows right away. Any ides on what might be the problem?

Contact them about the problem. It shouldn't blow the fuse, it doesn't draw that much power. Look for posts by them in the GPS forum, I think they have an email address there that you can use.

Unfortunately, I have had mixed experiences with this mount.

The first one I received was just dead. Someone from Siedo saw my post on here, and very kindly sent a replacement 12v adaptor (with built in fuse). It didn't cure the problem, so I had to send away the mount for a replacement, which took well over a month to arrive.
In the interim, I unplugged the new 12v cable and the spring at the side just broke clean off.
Eventually the replacement mount arrived, and it works with the original 12v cable (thankfully).
However, I'm disappointed to find that the speaker out doesn't work (I've tried two of the supplied audio cables from my X50v to the mount), so I have to listen to my GPS instructions through the crappy X50v speaker...
I don't want to send back my mount to the supplier, as I might face another 5 week wait for the replacement, and sadly based on experience to date, it may have another fault.

Now I'm only a sample of one, and I'm sure 99% of their units are perfectly fine, but obviously from my perspective there is a question mark over quality. It's a pity because these mounts do look really nice "In the flesh," and the mounting solution is far superior to the one supplied with my Tomtom kit for an iPAQ 2210.

Coming back to your problem, I'd suspect a short in the 12v cable unit rather than a problem with the Mount itself. After the spring broke on my original cable, I tried to use it again, but it just took out the 15A fuse on my car.

HTH

Martin, I'd recommend you contact them through the same email address that I suggested earlier and get a replacement with the speaker that works. I've had several of these units, and every one worked just fine, so you shouldn't have to put up with one that doesn't work properly.

I contacted David from Seidio and he's going to send me a replacement charger. Great customer service. Now I just hope this fixes my problem.

Are you sure the earphone out on you x50v is working properly? I'm having an
issue with mine. I thought my Akron power mount speaker wasnt working.
It turns out that it's a problem with my x50v. When I plug in the cable it cuts
off the external speaker but doesnt route the sound to the akrons speaker.

Seems this is not too all of an uncommon problem with the x50 series.

A fair point, but I've never had any problems with headphones (2 different sets), so I think it is indeed the mount.

Thanks for the suggestion - it is appreciated.

But will they make me send the dodgy one back first like the UK distributor (Smart Devices Direct) did?

I had to wait 5 weeks for the replacement, and I do not fancy doing that again! I was phoning them once or twice a week - nice guys and well meaning, but...

Regards

If you have the x50 mixer installed check your settings--I almost sent my Axim back for the same symtoms! Turned out the headphone volume on the mixer was turned down

I had this problem with the lighter adaptor which came with my mount. I'm not sure whether this adaptor was an official Seidio one or one provided with the kit by the suppliers. The adaptor had an intermittent short. First time I used it it was fine, the second time it blew the fuse. I took it into work and tested it on a PSU test rig and it showed a short. Basically, the whole unit as very badly designed/constructed and moving the adaptor in the socket would generate a short. I contacted the suppliers (globalpositioningsystems.co.uk) and they provided a much better replacment by return of post. In the mean time I had bought myself an adoptor from Maplin (UK) with variable regulated supply, and still use that.

Soemone else in this thread is asking about audio problems. I use TomTom for navigation and could not get the audio output from TomTom to the Seidio mount speaker. What I discovered was that TomTom only provides mono output to one of the stereo channels, and the Seidio audio cable I had wasn't connecting both audio channels to its speaker (I think I broke one connector when I "stressed" the cable, or it only connects to one). Sods law it was the one which TomTom didn't use. I built myself a new cable with both channels connected together and it's fine now.

I just recieved my replacement charge adapter cable today, now everything works great. Great customer service by Seidio. I think this is going to be a great mount.
