Worried Lil' Synch from PPC

Hey all,

While I've been strutting around here telling y'all about the lil' synch from PPC and their Y cable solution for USB charging, I got this email today from PPC:

Thank you for your order for the Dell Axim X50 Lil' Sync Pro Cable.
We are now ready to ship the Lil' Sync Pro version out to you, but
we wanted to cover a change that has happened. Our preliminary testing
showed that with our Y-Adapter, the cable would charge the unit when
it was on. However, after testing on different PCs, we found that it
did not work consistently due to the limitations on the PC's USB
port. We have decided to release the cable configured to charge only
when the unit is off.

so I guess as always I got too excited before I got it. Sorry for the unintentional misinformation. Hopefully they'll figure out a different solution!

Peace.

Darn. Well, at least they were honest about the problem. Guess we'll have to keep our eyes open.

Yeah, I got the same email. Total disappointment. Hopefully they will find away around this. I kept the cable coming though since I need one.

It seems any of the minisyncs available (Boxwave, etc) also will not charge the unit while it is on. Boxwave now carries the minisync for the X50v but they acknowledge (no matter what their website says) that the Ax will only charge while turned off. So sad.

I was just very happy and impressed that they were honest about the whole thing and upfront.

I didn't have to try first and get poor results, email, discuss, fight, whine, yell, cry etc....

To me, that's a sign of a responsible business and they definitely won my future business with that. personally speaking of course.

The other thing is that they decided to not include the y cable (since it doesn't work, why do I need ANOTHER not-used cable!!! :) ) they reduced the price on their own accord. I don't know - it just seems like a good business practice.

But anyway, I am looking forward to the battery extended with voltage regulation!!!

when I get the silly thing, I'll report!!!

Well, I just got my cable today. :) Looks well made. It came with a sticker on it that says that the "Axim's power must be off in order to charge". It does exactly that.

My only complaint is that it is hard to tell which side is up on the connector. Just so everyone knows you need to have the "HRS" logo facing down.
