Car power cord, AC adapter
I want to use my X50v as an MP3 player in my car without running down the battery. Will the Dell auto power adapter do this? It would be nice if it would also charge up the battery, but all I really want is to not run it down while I'm driving.

Also, is the Dell AC adapter what I need to keep my Axim charged up while away from home? I'm not concerned with syncing to a PC or powering through USB ports or anything like that. Just keeping my Axim going in the car, and charging it up when I get where I'm going without unplugging the cradle from my PC each time I take a trip.

Thanks,

Barbara

I think I found the perfect solution for travel charging,at least it works for me.I purchased a small power inverter at Sams for under $30.00.Plug it into your cig lighter and it turns 12V dc into 115V ac.I use it to charge my laptop, batteries for my camera and yes,the Axim. You will need your Dell transformer and adapter but you can leave the cradle at home.Hope this helps.

I have been using a sony psp car adapter (intec brand) as recomended by someone else here for almost a week now and it works great, it plugs into the power adapter that dell sends with the x50 and powers and charges the ax while in use in the car I purchased it @ bestbuy for $9.99, no need to wait for shipping. It actually looks identical to the one you linked to from dell.

Anyone know of any problems with this? I'm thinking of stopping a Best Buy on my way home from work. ps/ I have an X50v.

I'm using a boxwave car adaptor and while it charges the axim fine, it's very unreliable when using it to power the ppc while driving (for GPS purposes). Sometimes the battery will drain even though it is externally powered, and the screen will constantly flicker from switching back and forth between external and battery power (this happens even when the battery is initially at 100%). I too am starting to think that a power inverter is the foolproof way to go. There's never any harm in having a 115v outlet in the car anyway.

as i said ive been using it for a week now someone else here is also, the one i have is an intec brand it puts out enough power for me to use the axim while it charges, it puts out 5 volts so i dont think the one i am using (intec branded psp car charger best buy canada $9.99) can hurt the ax. but ymmv

i've had thee same issue with the car adaptor/bt gps all in 1 charger i got off ebay.... it seems the x50v just needs that bit too much ampege when running/charging causing the screen to flicker madly as it flicks between battery/mains...

gonna see if i can get summit similar over here in the uk that will kick out enough amps to reliably charge all my goodies (phone/bt hedset/x50v/bt gps)
