You can get them off ebay. The come with a USB charge cable and a wall adapter to plug the USB cable into.

With it plugged into the wall it will charge while on. It is the USB sync cable portion that will not charge the Axim when it is on. The USB port does not provide enough power to charge while it is being used.

Actually this is not quite true. I have one of those Ebay ones, and once the battery has reached a certain point, even the wall charger portion will NOT work (you start to see screen flickering). Perhaps the threshold is a bit lower than using just USB, but the problem still exists.

It will depend on how much juice you get from the wall adapter. there are those which put out 1A and there are those who put out 500mAh. Obviously you want the one with the most juice.

And as has been discussed in the past- it depends on the type of battery, the levle of the charge before you plug it in, etc.

What's the point of charging the axim with a USB sync cable plugged into a wall adapter??? If you're gonna be plugging something into the wall, why not just use the power supply that the axim came with?

Good question. It's mainly useful for those who want the USB sync charger but with additional functionality. On Ebay, you can get USB sync chargers with an AC adapter as well as a portable battery pack. If you are looking for all three, that would save you from having to buy 3 different items and carry around more gear.

I once forgot the power cable for my laptop in a client's office which was far away from home. I had a lot of work to do for the day after. I was quite distressed to find out I had only 2 hrs of battery left for a full day of work.

Since then, I ALWAYS buy a second power cable for anything that needs charging, especially if I use it for work. I keep one in my office, and one in my travel bag.

It is a very small price for peace of mind.

I am curious if it is manufacturer related. I was able to get a good deal on the Belkin set off ebay. As long as I have the sync cable plugged into the wall adapter it will charge when on even below that 80% people mention.

I'm not too familiar with wire quality, size, etc., could this have an impact?

I work as a physician and in my down minutes I read ebooks on my palm. Sometimes my downtime is in the office and sometimes in the car etc etc. For my previous palm (clie nr70v) i would be bale to use a retractable cord, ac or car adapter and poof - automatic charging.

Since I always go with a briefcase, I don't have a supreme worry about space, but equally to take the cradle and all the heavy and bulky gear is less than appealing....so I take the wall charger.

I posted this in another thread, but I wanted to see if others saw this and know this company and or this product.
