Question Does it matter memory card type?

Should I spend the extra $ for the sandisk ultra II for the axim or is the standard sandisk fine... Will I notice the read/write speed difference?

The only time you will notice a speed difference is when using a card reader. In your Axim they will preform the same. FYI most people have reported the stadard Lexar cards preform just as well as some of the higher end cards. It is also good to note that if you are not planning on useing a card reader the cradle is not a USB 2.0 device, so you will not gain any speed with that method. Good Luck~

If you have a camera that uses the same format I'd go for the faster card.

really for me it depends on what other devices you have. I get CF since i have a CF Camera, but many like SD if they do not have any other devices as it is much more portable

Get the largest size you can for each slot. Trust me you'll fill up that space in no time.

I think the limit is set by your wallet rather than the device

I think the 2G SD cards are JUST coming available. I don't recall seeing anyone post about how well it works in an Axim.

Some folks have gone to 4G microdrives, I believe. Most of my cards (both CF and SD) are 1G. That usually gives me a reasonable amount of space for the stuff I do.

according to tests by professionals, the ultra etc. speed gain is minimal (due to slow controllers, not the cards itself!). only if you use a digital camera with such requirements it's worth the extra money.
for the size i recomend the $/MB calculation. currently the 1GB cards offer the best value over here.

2 GB SD and 4 GB CF

great deal on these from dell last week n% off/buy *** take off and free shipping. There was a 6 GB CF but the cost was not in line. Wound up paying $30 per gb.

I reserve sd for programs, cf for media and built in as free as possible.
