Extra Battery ?

I'm ordering the latest X50V

Is the extra battery a must and can I get by with the 1100

Are there any other MUST HAVES while ordering now ?

Not from Dell but from other vendors you can get software, GPS, universal cables, case and games. Your preferences of course will dictate what is suiting you the best.

For me the extra 1100 was a must...I also got a travel kit from eBay with car and mains charger with a usb sync/charge cable plus an AA battery extender.

I have 2 2200mah batteries. I rarely ever use the 1100mah - this is just my preference. I'm pretty sure if you do a lot of WIFI you will want the larger battery. :approve:

As Frenchy said There are a lot of MUST HAVES but none of them are from Dell..

Screen protectors
Case
Sprite Backup (for me anyway.. it might not be for you)
USB2 Card reader

Other things are nice but not a must

Should I look for the battery elsewhere to save a buck and not order it from Dell

I bought my second battery from Lion Batteries. It works great - I got a 2200mah for about $50.00.

Good luck searching for the right accessories.

You can put your CF or SD flash memory cards in the card reader and plug them directly into your pc. The card appears as an extra drive and you can copy files to the card directly. No big shakes you might think but its MUCH quicker than using activesync.

If you use your axim for mp3 and videos then they are fantastic

I second that. I got a USB card reader for about 15 bucks. Its worth every penny. I can transfere files from my pc to ppc or visaversa in a fraction of the time that it would take with the cradle/activesync. When you're transfering large files like video/photos that can save you a bunch of time.

Also, search other posts and decide on a good case to protect your new purchase, and screen protectors so that beautiful screen doesn't get any annoying scratches.

The Sprite backup app mentioned above is also a lifesaver. You will definietly be glad you have it if you ever have to hard reset. Without a good backup, all your hours spent customizing your Axim will be wasted as you may have to redo it all. Sprite's also great if you're away from home and your desktop backup is not available since Sprite can backup to you memory card.

I like the battery life of the 2200 battery, but it does limit case options

the 1100 still has ok battery life and i still use it quite a bit as most of my cases are for the 1100 :)

if you do go for another battery, i would buy from Lion Batteries, they have great service and support :)

I love the phrase 'most of my cases'. I thought it was just me
