Screen flickering and Car charger

Hi,
I bought a car charger for my X50 and noticed as many of you a flickering of the screen. My question is the following: when I set the brightness of the screen at identical values for both the battery and AC operation, I of course do not see a flickering anymore but can this hurt anyway the device ???

Does the flickering stop when you lower the brightness or increase the brightness? If it is when you lower the level then your charger cant supply enough juice for full brightness and charge the battery at the same time especially if your battery is very low. Is your car battery and alternator functioning properly ?

I had the same thing with my car charger.
It stops doing that if I set the processor speed to the lowest value.
As axzilla says, it's because the car charger can't supply enough power.

Thanks for your replies . My car does not have any problem :) I did not check everything but all I know is that when I set the same brightness then it is just fine

What car charger are you using?
USB? or DC plug?
How do you connect?
With a USB cable? or with the Axim Dc dongle? Or with The Axim USB cable but through the high current input with a DC plug cable?

They make all the differences.

If you are connecting with the Axim DC dongle, the answer is that the car charger does not output enough current.

It needs to be rated at least 800mAh. Cheap chargers do not really output as much as it is printed on the label.

PC mobile is speaking the truth!

If I could just underline what he said - check how much juice XXX mAh the charger is supposed to put out. Like he said the minimum that you want is 850. There are those with 1A and those even with 2A and that would matter. I am sure that as long as you can turn your car on, the battery is fine....it's the middle part!!! :)

PC mobile has more experince than I with the DC dongle since he works with it!!! :) for sure. I have always used the usb cable with the plug in and with good experience so far.

but remember that your dear axim - as much as you love him/her...is a power hog and needs some serious juice. Don't believe me? check the amperage that the included charger that comes with the cradle....it's huge!!!

good luck!!!

i just your last post - the link you gave didn't rate the amount of voltage output (5 or 5.4) and it didn't rate the amperage. You should find that on the head of the part that goes into your lighter. If I could be bold and take a guess - it will be 5v and 500 maH which is by far, too little.

What you say/think "quite similar" may not be what you think.

The one on the link should be OK if it has the Axim connector on the end (the way it is connected that is), unless it has a lower than indicated capacity.
