BT Keyboard
I have tried to research this in the forums but am getting bogged down. I am looking for a BT keyobard that had a detachable stand for the PDA and a number row on top. It would be nice if it could be foled up. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Will the stand let you use the PDA in landscape mode? How does the thinkouside keyboard compare with the Dell version? The Dell is only $99.00 but if it is not as good, I certianly will spend the extra dough...

The stand can hold it in landscape or regular mode (it has two positions)

the dell is the same exact keyboard as the thinkoutside (made by thinkoutside for dell) but the dells drivers suck. This is not an issue though as you can download the drivers from www.ThinkOutside.com After you install on your pocket pc, you can then flash the keyboard with the new thinkoutside fireware (sounds complicated but it is just one button once you link the two up)

Here is also a review of the Thinkoutside:
http://www.techislands.com/index.php...15&Itemi d=26

I would just buy the Thinkoutside from amazon.com as it is cheaper there then going to dell:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=507846

only 90$ and that includes free shipping

one thing everyone is forgetting to mention is the fact that the think outside keyboard lacks the dedicated number row you are looking for

sorry about that, missed that you said that, in that case you can look into the javoedge (www.javoedge.com) or brando (search google for brando) keyboard. They are the same unit, have a detachable stand, and a dedicated number row. The one thing i dont like as well is that the keys are shrunk to accomidate the full number row, but it is still a good keyboard

I've used both, and other keyboards on previous PDA's, gotta say the think outside one is the best i'vr had so far, once you get use to the multiple function keys to use numbers etc
Certainly the easiest to write reports and general stuff, the keys are well placed and it's very sturdy. Only complaint (if i'm being picky) is the lack of extra supports on the edge of the keyboard. if you hit one of the keys on the edge on the board to hard it can move the keyboard (little tip effect) as the main body is not supported properly. Although it is very rigid so is not really detrimental to function, just a little annoying.

So your saying that these can replace the Dell BT Keyboard drivers for the X50v? Cause almost every time I turn on my PDA I have to go into the keyboard settings make a 'New Connection' to the keyboard when I want to use it. Although sometimes it just works, I flip the keyboard open, and start typing. Is that the drivers? Will installing these drivers and flashing the keyboard fix this to set up a permenant connection that I don't have to reestablish every time I want to use it?

yes, flashing the dell bt keyboard that is really just the thinkoutside one will help with your problems. Many have done it and had good results

if you need more info, just use the search button at the top of the page to find more threads on it

Buy the magnesium case, and you'll have a stand for your PDA no matter where you go!
