pelican psp car charger vs intec psp car charger
does anyone know if the pelican car charger works just the same as the intec car charger for our axim x50?

i dont know the specs of the pelican car charger.

both are for the psp and from the threads i've been reading, the intec charger model # G6715 charges the battery while the x50 is on. TIA

I know it is 5v, the connector/polarity fits but I don't know about amperage. Thats the important part in getting the charge while on.
(the Pelican Power Brick is said to charge the X50 while off.)

I use the intec from bestbuy canada, and it works great and charges while you use it.

I also bought the intec PSP charger from Bestbuy Canada as well. I have no problem to charge the battery all the way from 20% to 100% while using the device. The charger gets warm while charging the battery (from 20% to 70%) and powering up the device but I think it is normal.

No spec comes with the charger. I use DMM to measure the voltage and current. The output voltage is 5.44V when nothing is connected to it. At 900mA, the voltage is 5.4V. There is a fuse in the plug which is rated at 2A 250V. Therefore, the chrager should be able to supply enough current for x50v.

Well, a little FYI for the Pelican PSP charger from Wal-Mart that costs $6.63 or something similar...

I hooked it up through my VGA adapter's power port and it works fine without WIFI on while just using GPS/nav software. it also works fine and charges with JUST wifi on and surfing. It does NOT however work with Wifi or Bluetooth on AND the GPS at the same time.

*edit* I can have ALL features on and charge if I turn the processor down to normal or power savings mode.

Guess I just gotta do one or the other...

I will check the voltage on it another time... busy packing for Korea :/

Sorry, I wont be back to the states until the 26th of may, so unless someone else buys one and tests it with a multimeter...gonna have to wait . Sorry.

What I can tell you is that it worked perfectly for a two hour drive, keeping the battery at a full 100% while using half backlight with Mapopolis running and my GPS. I would have tried full backlight (and I have no reason to think it wouldnt work also), but at nighttime, it gets a little bright for the eyes.

I have the Pelican charger and I use it with a Socket bluetooth GPS (self-powered) and Mapopolis, and it works great. I don't think you'd have much luck powering both the Axim and a GPS off the Pelican charger, though - just running the Axim alone pretty much maxes it out.

I read in one of the other threads that the intec psp car charger fries the x50v. Is this true? Has this happened with anyone else's axim? I just bought the intec car charger as part of the psp starter kit i bought from bestbuy usa, but i am afraid to use it.

did you have to tweak the setting(like brightness) to make it charge as you use like what biohzrd do? did the pelican provide information on the max supply out?

really getting a feeling that i should give it a go for the pelican
charger.

I didn't really have to tweak the brightness... it's just the setting I like.

I use a Haicom 303mmf (compact flash) GPS... so it's powered through the axim. the pelican has no problem keeping it charged while running mapopolis.

If you are not sure about buying it, I say just TRY it. It's ONLY ~$7 AFTER tax. and it DOES work, just not with EVERYTHING (Wifi/bluetooth/GPS/full brightness/etc) on at once. It DOES work with one or two of them on.
